The "Zune phone" is Project Pink - and Zune SW support is coming
January 28, 2010 by itsnotabigtruck
The Zune software contains a EEndpointFamily enumeration that specifies the various flavors of compatible hardware. All the usual varieties of Zune are represented, but two of the entries in the list are distinctly unfamiliar: eEndpointFamilyPmxPure and eEndpointFamilyPmxTurtle. These two items would, of course, be referring to the Pure and Turtle, codenames for the two phones stemming from Microsoft’s Pink project. What PMX stands for is anyone’s guess, but Pink Media eXperience [update: turns out it's Premium Mobile eXperiences] would be a safe bet.
On a related note, the Zune software also contains two PMX-related string table entries, IDS_PMX_CACHED_CONTENT_WARNING and IDS_PMX_CACHED_CONTENT_URL. The following text corresponds to these entries:
<h>Studio members</h>\nView and manage pictures and videos taken with your phone at the Studio
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=177789
This is about as close as it gets to definitive evidence that:
- Pink is the Zune phone
- There’s going to be a service called Studio that lets you upload the footage from your phone camera
The distinct lack of other PMX references in the software means that it is doubtful that support for the new phones is fully implemented - this is just a precursor of what’s to come. Moreover, it’s still unclear why there are three phone entries listed in the infamous .inf file when there are only two Pink models that are known. However, more information is certain to become evident eventually.

On a side note, I notice a lack of a Danger reference.
I think this one was already found.
