Zunescene is reporting they have the latest info on the release date for the new Zunes.  They report it to be October 16, 2007, even after they recount an entire conversation with a Microsoft informant who said MS is "gunning" for that date, but never really confirms it (so please take some Sodium Chloride with that).  But what is clear is the new Zunes are in what's called "Product validation" and are expected soon.



They also say the leaked photos that Gizmodo released a while ago (above) are the real deal, and details about the new devices were given and are as follows:

1.  The flash Zunes will come in Pink, Red, Black, and Green.
2.  The new Zunes will have the same double shot casing as the originals.
3.  They will have a new directonal pad, what was called a "squircle" by the MS contact, but will basically work the same way.  They are shaped like a rounded square, hence the name.
4.  No 160Gb Zune (yet)

They also report the prices of the new Zunes will be:
80Gb Zune - $249
8Gb flash Zune - $199
4Gb flash Zune - $149

Anybody other than me hope the squircle name doesn't stick?
