New Zune Interface? [Rumor]

zuneinterfaceA patent filed by Microsoft shows a new interface for a mobile device.  Could this be something Zune could be getting in future generations or firmware updates?  While the images definitely look like a mobile phone, the patent does leave room for other mobile scenarios as well as the Xbox 360 Live environment.  And Apple fans can't stand it?  More after the break...

The patent is based on "stacking data wheels."  The menu would revolve in a graphical scenario for a more intuitive interface.  We all know the Zune's current 'twist' interface rocks other media players' menus' socks off, but this would rock even more!  While this wheel-of-data scheme is something that has never been done before, leave it to iFans to bend the truth by saying Microsoft is trying to copy Apple's tedious and over-hyped cover-flow system.  I don't know, but you take a look at the following images and tell me if this even comes close to Apple's idea (can they tell an original idea when they see it?).

I believe this is for Windows Mobile 7 smartphones which is suppose to get this type of Interface --- and Zune integration.

See this, particulary Image 27 in the Gallery...

That's windows mobile 7, and as far as that goes it's pretty old news.

And it's not even close to a ripoff of coverflow. It's a ripoff of Ubuntu. The integrated gesture support, using the built in camera to detect positional change (like, say, a gyroscope would?), and most everything else however ARE a pretty blatant Apple ripoff. Of course, does it matter? I have a zune, and a windows mobile phone. I don't give a crap what Apple thought of first for twice the money.

Ahahaha...

Apple didn't even invent coverflow...

cover flow is just real life. no one invented it. Its just a virtual cd album. emulating something isnt inventing. Apple just makes stuff look pretty, but is it more usefull? Why do we have computers? so that we can do more than we could with paper. So wouldn't you want your album names listed, instead of just the covers? That way, all the info can be brought to your eyes. That is what computers do, and what paper cant.

Coverflow seems like a jukebox concept to me...
