The numbers are out and Zune has gained market share!  Along with the news that Zune's sold its 2 millionth device, Microsoft has risen to #3 in the PDMP market.  Granted, a lot of ground is still left to be made up, but it looks like Zune is making some waves!  And with the thought that the iPod is loosing ground, makes this news a bit more sweeter!  Even oft-Microsoft bashing Engadget has been surprisingly positive towards Zune's latest developments saying:

      "...don't worry, we're sure that 2.5 update is going to change everything."

Unfortunate for Creative (the Zen Vision: M still kicked everything's ass), but not surprising. iPod owners are committed. They're not going to switch to the Zune very easily. Once the Zune kills all the other smaller competitors, though, it'll be strong enough to be valued as a genuine competitor to the iPod for the general public. With more accessories and support, most of the reasons people stick with iPods will be gone. THAT's when we'll start stealing market share from the iPod. Reply | Quote 1   1

It was clear that Zune gained market share and others loss yet still they were able to twist the story so that MS would look patheric. I have used several mp3 machines and I have heard that the Zune is a solid machine. I just wish that Microsoft would improve the software interface and its store system. Even though they started out looking like shit bricks. The Zune guys should focus on making more features and adding xvid/divx compatibility.
