That's right folks, a new Zune firmware has been released. Apparently, it does not add any new features, but it improves the existing features.

Straight from the update: 

This required update will help enhance stability and performance.

For devices being upgraded from Zune firmware version 1.0, this update includes the enhancements provided in Zune firmware version 1.1.

So you might be asking, does this really help? Can you actually notice a difference in the performance? I'll be honest with you. Yes. Definately. After the update, I've been playing around with my Zune for a couple of minutes. Usually, I get the lag image (the one with the circling dot things) every time I view pictures. This time, I went through 450 without a single lag. I also noticed an improvement while switching modes, and switching from videos to music.

Are you having troubles installing the firmware? Try manually updating.

1. Plug your Zune in.
2. In your Zune Software, on the left you should see your ZuneTag.
3. Right click your name, and click "Check for Zune Device Updates."
4. The rest is pretty easy.

Aiellenon   | 24.211.85.xxx | 2007-06-21 11:51:25 unfortunately I did not get to play with my Halo Zune prior to upgrading the firmware, however I have a really hard time syncing my zune, the Zune software will stop on a particular file, and I will cancell it, then try to restart and it will tell me my zune is responding slowly or some such error and that I should unplug it from my computer, wait a bit, then plug it back in. this happens everytime I try to sync more than 2 or 3 files, or any video files (even small ones), it does not even get past 0% on converting the video files. its real annoying, as it is a new zune and I am having a very hard time putting anything on it.
