Found this little gem:

In his blog on ZuneInsider, Microsoft employee Cesar Menendez commented on how Microsoft reacted to the announcement by Apple on the new iPod models.  Near the bottom of one entry, Menendez cryptically shed a little light on how Redmond took notice of the event.  He writes:

“Oh, and this may come as a shock to folks, but today's Apple Computer announcement doesn't actually change any of our plans. Of course we watched with some degree of interest but our plans have been in motion for some time now.  No announcements to make other than the fact that the Zune team remains committed to building a solid experience for users.”

Good to hear Microsoft is “in motion” and this writer is waiting for Microsoft’s official response…

UPDATE:  After getting a lot of feedback on his earlier post, Cesar posted some more news, but no details :mad:
He writes:

"We’re really confident about the lineup we’re building, and to the enhancements we’re bringing to gen 1 Zunes (no specifics to share right now)"

It's good to hear us 1st gen Zune owners won't be left out in the dark....

It speed somethings up but still sucked. I bought the zune for a couple of reason and one was the promise of updates. yet we still see nothing we cant ever get a clock from them really. But all the "hacks" that have come out basically give it functionality it SHOULD have shipped with. I was SURE that MS would have all kinds of updates coming out to give the users what they wanted, but they can't even give us a friggin clock!!! Come on MS!!! MS really has a chance to turn things around with the zune. Microsoft, are you listening? Open up WiFi for media streaming to XP, XBOX360, Media Center and Vista from the zune. Give us applications or added functionality to the zune. I think Microsoft would have a "Hit" if they only opened the firmware and released the "roadmap" of the firmware and left everything else alone. Do you think the "Original" XBOX sales number would have been what they were if it was unhackable? A product that is hackable will always have more sales then if it wasn't. Hello.... Like many of you have said, the updates are worthless and i'm the only person who has a zune.. make my shit better than the competition. All my friends have ipods and i just get laughed at for having the "incompatible" device. they all share songs and shit and im stuck with the brick device that could've been great. i may have to get that 80gb ipod for 249 and sell my zune... Hmmm, seems like MS doesn't like to hear that their product may be losing any slight foothold in the market. I don't miss my Zune at all. I hope that they do get you guys the updates you want without you having to buy the Zune 2 in order to benefit from them. But if those pics they are saying are what the Zune 2 looks like, then my guess is most of you won't be buying one, they just look lame, imo. My wife wants to wait to see if the Zune 2 is much better before she buys an mp3 player, so I hope it comes out and is more than we can hope for, but I don't have high hopes, sorry MS.
