We all knew it was coming, and it is here. Bill Witress, from ZuneGuy, gave us a little teaser last week by telling us to expect some new Zune Accessories that were Wireless and on-the-go.
Harman Kardon announced the Drive+Play 2 at CES in Las Vegas. According to them, it will be the ultimate media manager for automotive use.
The system comes with a scroll wheel and four buttons that will let the
user navigate through the 3.5” video screen interface. Drive+Play 2 has
a user interface of it own and does more than just presenting the video
interface of the player you are using. The downside is you will have to
get used to a different interface when you are in your car.
The system will retail $399 and a Bluetooth hands free mobile interface
will be available for $149. The Drive+Play 2 will be available in April
for the US market but this product will be available worldwide in the
near future. The Bluetooth interface will be available only in June. A
Sirius satellite radio interface should also be available but not price
and date information was available.
Memorex is introducing three new Zune cases. The Leather Show Case, the Sport Band and the Silicone Sleeve.
The
Memorex Leather Show Case integrates hands-free viewing and complete
protection into one unique case. Using the Show Case, the Zune can
stand on its own horizontally and vertically for convenient viewing of
videos, movies and programs. The top-loading case is made of premium
leather, while a soft, suede inner lining and clear screen protector
safeguard the player no matter where you go. The Memorex Leather Show
Case has a suggested retail price of $29.99.
Ideal for active lifestyles, the Memorex Sport Band makes it easy to
use the Zune player while on the move. The form-fitting Sport Band case
safely secures the player in place for hands-free activity. It features
an embedded screen protector to shield the Zune from the elements and
reflectors for safety at night. The work out-ready armband is also
easily adjustable and provides access to all ports. The Memorex Sport
Band has a suggested retail price of $29.99.
The Memorex Silicone Sleeve secures, protects and preserves the
digital media player. A custom fit and durable silicone material with
anti-dust coating and screen protector safeguard the Zune from
scratches and debris, while the form-fitting design ensures access to
all ports. Also included with the Silicone Sleeve is an adjustable
armband, providing hands-free portability. The Memorex Silicone Sleeve
has a suggested retail price of $19.99.
Yes, I know the picture above has an ipod on it. Eforcity is presenting the INSTEN made for the iPod but also for the
Zune. The unit does not have the “Design for Zune” approval but is
certainly the cheapest Zune speaker system on the market. The device can be battery powered (4 AAA) and comes with a USB cable.
The power is only 2W per speaker! Recommended for home use, not for parties.
Direct quote from ClicZune:
We spent some time at the JBL booth this week. We had a second look
at the speaker system presented by JBL in the Zune booth. We took other
pictures of it and with noticed interesting connectors on the back of
the device. First, there is a USB connector that will ease the Zune
synchronisation with your PC. Secondly, there is a video out connector
to view your Zune videos and pictures on your TV. I just hoped that
those USB connectors available on the speaker system does not mean we
will have to wait for years before we can sync wirelessly the Zune with
the PC!!!
The docking station attached to the speaker is also sliding to
facilitate transportation. And finally, the JBL Zune speaker can also
be operated with batteries, but the device is asking for 4 AA batteries.
The speaker uses 2.4Ghz wireless technology and should be interference-free. The speakers are waterproof, and perfect for showers. The speakers should be JI56 compliant and are not recommended to be submerged under water.
It seems like Memorex sure love making speakers! Two more speakers were presented at the CES of 2007. They consisted of a clock radio for your bedside table and another one
that can site on a coffee table of your living room or can even be
hanged on the wall. The docking
station of the speaker will power and charge your Zune. A wireless
remote will also be available to control the speaker controls and your
Zune. Pictures & Info via ClicZune
