Andy Lees, Microsoft's new Windows Mobile chief executive made some interesting points in a recent interview regarding the future of Windows Mobile and the integration of Zune and Xbox. This may not be a surprise to those who have been hearing about the 'Pink&Purple Project' and those other rumors, but this definitely gives those rumors some validity. Read on...
"....you can easily imagine how we can take those things -- music, some of
the things we do with Zune; games, with what we do with Xbox and Xbox
Live; things that we would do with the PC and the Web, with Windows
Vista and Windows Live; what people do in business with Exchange, with
Office -- and how we'll make those things really come to life on mobile
devices, in the right way for a mobile device..." - Andy Lees As a new owner of a smart phone, I can easily see how Zune could easily be placed on there (if it were available). And with all the news of XNA 3.0, games could easily be ported to WM. The only problem I see is if MS can really make these things jive well together. We've seen in the past that Zune didn't work with Vista at first, and MS seems to have some problems when integrating across interdepartmentally. With WM 7 rumored to be only a year off, it will be interesting to see if Lees' vision will come to fruition as we all hope. (Please MS - don't screw this up - cut the beauracracy!) [via SeattlePI]
