In a recent article by one of the most prominent industry analyst sites, iSuppli calls Microsoft "surprisingly non-aggressive in its approach to the PMP/MP3 player market" and speculates that MS "erred" this year in forcasting the demand of the Zune 80. Is Microsoft soft? I contend it's not. Read on...
“The question is whether the Zune 80 shortage is the result of high demand, short supply or some combination of both...Given the widespread criticism of the first Zune model, it is likely
Microsoft erred on the side of caution when placing initial orders for
the new Zunes..." Writes
Jonathan Cassell . He goes on to further speculate:
Perhaps Microsoft is moving tentatively because the company is treading some unfamiliar territory with the Zune
While that may be true, it's obvious people simply don't know what to make of the issue over the lack of availability of the new Zune. They seem to be searching for answers to why MS would drop the ball so-to-speak. Why has the Zune 80 been in such short supply?
Well, for one, it's not. As reported earlier, you can simply go to NowInStock.net and see this isn't true. Amazon, BestBuy, Buy.com, Target, and eBay all still have them in stock. And secondly, if you remember a story brought to you back in July, this shortage isn't really due to MS 'cautiousness' but a manufacturing issue. It's really interesting what people do to try and explain things away. It's obvious iSuppli needs to be reading zB more often!. ; )
