Zune Loses to Ipod by 1 point in "Prizefight."
December 14, 2006 by lpxxfaintxx
For you who don’t know, Prizefight is a ‘mini-show’ that CNet hosts. Basically what they do is compare products side by side. They grade the products on their Design, Interface, Compatibility, Features, and Performance. The results? The ipod won by 1 point. Honestly, I think this review was pretty fair. The only thing I didn’t like is they didn’t have a round for technical performance. The zune beats the ipod in terms of "power." Considering the Zune’s been out for a month, and the ipods been out for 5 years, I think the Zune did a decent job.
Design: Zune 4 - Ipod 4
Interface Zune 5 - Ipod 4
Compatibility: Zune 2 - Ipod 3
Features: Zune 4 - Ipod 5
Performance: Zune 4 - 4

"Oh you may have an FM tuner and WiFi, but my iPod owns your dumb Zune because I have more preset EQ's than you, noob!!!" :
If I bought a new make of automobile that needed a crank to start it....would anyone say it's unfair to compare it to today's Ford cars? Ford's first auto's required a crank too....but they have had so many years to develop it and make it better....so I should not compare a new brand for it's first attempt at a car.
Far to many people are have clouded view points.
take the PS3 and 360 for example: the PS3 is Sony's 3rd Playstation, and the 360 is Microsofts 2nd Xbox...and yet there virtually on par...you dont go saying "whoah, Sony took 5 years longer to reach where MS is today. and the Wii is Nintendos 5th console...so form your guys crazy ass standards, nintendo is over a decade behind in technology.
oh, and that CNET thing was lame as hell.
and the only thing the Zune needs is more audio and video format support...and thats all it will take to really attempt to take ipods crown.
iPod comes out a bit more ahead of Zune than prizefight acknowledges. For example, A very customizable main menu that reduces navigation (iPod) counters, if not outweighs a customizable background (Zune) for devices in which the back light stays on mere seconds (both) - function over flare. Also, as inaccurately represented in prizefight, both may output to TV, but what they didn't mention is iPod outputs at 640x480 vs Zune's 320x240 - that's 4x better on iPod and a significant difference on big TVs.
for exampel this car radio... i want it btw..lol http://www.crutchfield.com/S-kyOzDeh...50&I=133VD6503
but i cant connect my zune to it
there has to be a way to use the zune as a cd changer
and btw, who gives a rats *** if Zune software isn't supported on Macs? Its not like the Mac fanboys are gonna replace their precious iPods anyway (and its gonna be added later). And i want to know why the Zune wasn't given credit for seamless connection with the Xbox 360 (Totally Sweet btw 8)).
And for those on Xbox Live, i assume you (like me) were totally psyched when you saw you could use your Microsoft points to purchase songs (talk about simplicity, screw giving out my credit card number online
P.S. You don't need to give any credit card numbers to iTunes or the Zune Marketplace. You can just buy pre-paid music cards(Which I continue to do for both services).
I like my zune but nearly every mp3 player supports lossless audio of some type, and nearly every portable video player supports more video codecs than the zune.
The Zune has alot of potential but MS really needs to widen it's support of audio and video files. If other MP3 players offer more features what is the point in getting the zune?
My GF got me a zune the day it came out as an early Xmas present, and I do like it but I would never have bought one on my own knowing it did not support lossless audio files.
MS winning alot more users is just a firmware update away
Open up wireless to sync with any wireless network
Open up audio and video codecs, especially lossless audio support
User Adjustable EQ
Delete music on your zune from your zune--- DUH that was a stupid over site
Quick and dirty web browser
These simple things would make current users really happy and give MS a selling point to get new users.
