SUPERZUNE!! that would be awsome, one time i dropped my zune from about 6 feet onto hard pavement, screen first and all it did was scratch the shell and leave a small thin tiny scratch on the screen. as a matter a fact the pavement was the thing that got damaged, not the zune. zune 30 is like military vehicle, it might look like a brick but you could nuke it and it would say, received traumatic error, erasing all content and firmware. LOL.

It's immoral, I know. That's not the point. This isn't a thread about the morals and ethics of warranty fraud.

My friend and I have tried our DAMNDEST to break this thing - not a crack in the screen, the warranty doesn't cover that. At first we tried pouring water into the headphone and USB jack while leaving the Zune on. No luck. The thing works fine.
Then we filled up the sync, started playing a movie, and left it there for 20 minutes. That seemed like it worked - the video froze after a while. We let the battery drain. The next day, we plugged it into the USB charger to make sure it wasn't working. It was.
Then we started playing music and beating the hell out of it. We pounded it on our floor as hard as possible, switching songs so that it was reading from the hard drive. We passed it back and forth until our hands were sore. The thing is, it kept detecting the trauma. It would stop playing music whenever we hit it especially hard.
Next, we got a power cord, cut off the female end, stripped the wires, and plugged the male end into the wall. Then we put the bare wires into the USB connector. It got zapped good and hard, setting off a fuse. A little bit of the power cord's wiring melted to the inside (which we chipped off). The Zune still worked just fine.
We did it again. It still worked fine. We did it a third time - it's as good as new. It boggles my mind.
My next plan was to reformat it. While it was doing so, we pounded it on the floor with all our strength, hoping to mess up SOMETHING. It froze. We let the battery drain and then charged it up again. This time it came up with an error message: "To recover from an error, Zune must clear all content." I push "Okay," it reboots, and presents the same message. I'm guessing that we could theoretically force a reformat (reboot, then hold return, center, and pause while booting), and things would be back to normal. But I'm willing to bet that Geeksquad doesn't know about that, so they'll probably accept the return. But in reality, the thing still isn't really broken.

With the iPods I've had, the harddrives would fail if I exhaled in their direction. Zunes are GODDAMNED TANKS. They have numerous failsafes to protect the integrity of the hardware. If you bought a Zune - which I highly recommend - rest assured that it will last you a long time. You won't be able to break it if you try.
Not true. Search up Zune Error 5. Happened to my Friend's Zune.

Yeah, they're freaking tanks.

A friend and I went to where my parents own river property, and he had parked it after it got stuck on a rock. His brakes gave after we were out of the car and the car went off of a 30 foot cliff with my friend hanging on the door. Though he was pinned under the flipped car, he escaped with only a few scratches. My Zune had been on the dashboard of his car the whole time, and was smashed under the windshield but it wasn't even scratched even though it had been crushed, and submerged in water. My friend's ipod was found in the floorboard with heavy scratches and the click-wheel thing barely works now.

So yeah, Zunes are awesome.

The closest I've gotten to damaging my Zune would be in my nightmare. I had a dream I scratched the sh*t out of the top of it. I woke up pissed off, but I remembered it was just a dream. I also dropped it on a rug ONCE. I'm OCD about this thing, lol. Glad to hear it's almost indestructible. The material it's made out of seems like it would be.

I'm really clumsy and that's how I have this whole mp3 graveyard on my desk now XDD

I've dropped my Zune like...a billion times on concrete (like while walking across the street or in parking lots) and nothing really happened to it. Maybe it's because it always tends to land on the back O.o oh god that's even scarier. It's like it has a mind of its own O.o

xDD

Either way, it is pretty sturdy. Better than most mp3 players I've had (trust me I've broken enough to know XDDD)

Hah, I dragged these big magnets over my zune 4, nada. Been dropped from my desk countless times, still nothing. It even fell off my roof, and it is barely scratched!

You can tell just by holding it that it's a sturdy prouct. My little sister owned mine before I traded my ipod for it and if it survived her (not only survived, but survived without a scratch) then it is pretty close to being indestructible.

What did the guy do with his old zune anyway? He should sell it on e-bay for an auction starting at 75% of the price he bought it for, and maybe have a link to this thread.

The same thing happened to me. I was trying to post the picture here, but it won't let me until I have 5 posts. I started a thread somewhere else on the Boards about it, though, with a picture. At least my LCD screen still works!

Sigh. I never take it anywhere without the leather case, now. EVER. It essentially only comes out to charge/sync. Lol.

I was never a fan of anything below the 30. Never understood the appeal of them.
