haha my Zune has fallen so many times like out of my hoodie pocket or the headphone cord gets caught on something and the Zune gets yanked out of my pocket hitting the ground yet it's still fine.

Good to know. I just bought a 80gb Zune about 5 days ago, and so far I'm loving it. The mp3 player I had before this one was an old 40gb Creative Zen Xtra. It still works just fine, I was just ready to get something that has more than a black and white text screen and doesn't look like a cassette player from 1992.
Back when I got my Zen Xtra, the first week I dropped it down a flight of stairs outside my house, and it landed directly on a large pointy rock. It put a huge dent in the back of the player, and when I removed the back, it even dented the hard drive itself, but it still played on (and still plays on) like nothing happened! Anyway, I say all that because even though the Zen Xtra was big and clunky looking, it was a tank, and now that I've got the Zune 80 its good to hear that it can take a lickin' as well. |

Finally an mp3 that doesn't break after a week! I've owned two iPods in the past. The first one, an iPod Mini, had it's batteries busted after half a year. My second one, the iPod 80gb, the thing litterally fell apart after I had gone for a run with it. Also, a friend recently broke his iPod (same as my second one) by doing push ups, and then his screen broke. Ridiculous!

yeah, my zune 30 is incredible solid. The durable plastic is the one thing the zune80 lacks in my opinion though it looks nicer i guess. But yeah, it barely has any visible scratches and i've had it without a case for a year.

I think I would freak out if I ever dropped my Zune, I don't usually let anyone else hold it. It's like I'm afraid they would hurt it or something.

Zunes ARE indestructable. Too bad Xbox 360s couldn't be the same way. My first Zune 30's earphone jack broke, so MS repaired it(sent me new one) for free.
Now my next is in a case. I enjoy it. Really, these things only break by bad luck, unless a car runs one of them over.

apples cant stand up to anything. my cousin had a laptop that if you even coughed in the direction of his power cable it would snap off in the laptop and it would cost $50 for a new power cord and a long time to get the prong out

next time if your trying to break it try this drop it from about chest height onto wood floor the zune will get that message you got, To recover from an error, Zune must clear all content." then try a sync it will, for me at least, always say zune device not responding
i have to send mine in because of this

I've only dropped my zune 80 once so far, and nothing happened to it. Good as new even the etched design I got on the back of it is in perfect condition. But I did have a heart attack though as it was falling out of my hands. Because it's my first mp3 player and I love it to death. But still I think the zune gen 2 are a lot weaker than the 1st gen zunes. Zune 30's are built like a tank!!!

Of course, they're still tougher than the iPods.

i tired to do the same with my zen micro bc i wanted a zune. the thing wouldnt stop working. one day i hid it from some little kids over my house and i put it under my lava lamp (where the actual lamp is) i forgot it was there and one day i turned on the lamp and about 10 mins later i remembered and by then the controls had sort of metled and the texture was really messed up.........but they still returned it =]
you might want to try opening it and like pulling a wire or two and then closing it again or try something with strong magnets
