The ipod is the most domenating mp3 player out in the market today. Apple sells thousands of ipods every day. Apple also holds the vast majority of the music industry with itunes. Itunes has sold millions of songs and is the most popular online music store.
So why is it that you, even through all that hype, chose the Zune?
Was it becuase you are a MS fanboy?
Hated the ipod?
Don't go for fads like the ipod?
Wanted to be different?
Had to many problems with your ipod?
Wanted the first generation of a kick@ss mp3 player?
Did someone give it to you as a gift over your will?
Or What...
-----------------------
This is my story...
Well I have had my4th generation 20GB ipod for a number of years. The device was very much outdated (didn't even have color!) and I wanted to upgrade. One thing I really wanted was to be able to watch videos on what ever mp3 player I got.
I looked at the Ipod and the 80GB video ipod looked appealing. However, that tiny box screen convinced me that it wasn't worth it. The videos would look ugly and small on such a small screen. Having the 4th generation ipod for so long also convinced me that the ipod video was not the way to go. I have brought my ipod back for a replacement many many times. Whenever I go for a replacement there is always a long line of others replacing theres. I did not want all those problems to come haunt me again if I bought a new Ipod. Come to think of it, my ipod has probably spent more time borken then it has been ok. The screen of the ipod and the whole body of the ipod has always attracted scratches and fingerprints. The ipods kinda have a rep for scratched up screens. So that is why I didn't go with the Ipod.
I also looked at a few others alternitives. Like the Creative Zen for example. They had video Zens that had large hardrives. However the Zen was expensive and didn't issactly have that same sexy look as the Zune (or ipod). So that is when I looked at the Zune. The Zune had a very attractive look and a large screen. It was love at first sight. The body of the Zune didn't attract any fingerprints or scratches and the double effect was awsome. The screen look and size was the real think that got me to buy it. However the only 30GB was a bit of a downer. I had also never seen anyone else with the mp3 player, so it gave me a sense of being an outcast! I love being the only with a cool device. Everybody who uses my Zune also loves it.
So that is why I bought the Zune over the ipod. What about you?

I hate apple and I am an MS fanboy, among other reasons. I just needed a reason NOT to get an ipod.
Conformity <> cool.

I had a 3g iPod until it got ran over by a car, then I got a zen micro and realized that the iPod really wasn't that good and started looking at other players for my next one. I was almost sure that I was going to get another zen, and then I went to best buy and was holding the zen and the zune, and the zune just seemed so much better. That and I wanted to be different. ; )

I had a delightful Iriver H10, but the shuffle sucked, and space just felt too little and I thought after a year it was nice to get rid and still not be very far from something bigger, nicer stringer better.
I was really prone to Creative's Zen, in Christmas they were $200, but I couldn't find one, the next best thing was the Zune, and I couldn't get it in the color I wanted anyway >(, but heck the brownie grew up on me, I'm nothing but pleased now, I used to think album art and videos was something useless ^-^

I had this 2 gb Panisonic, I loved it to death. but i went to walmart and saw the zune and i was like omg must have. but no money... so one day i went to the casino with like 20 bucks and pulled out 400. so i went and bought a zune.
Started with a 20 gig iPod. Thought it was, well, alright. I picked up the so-called "Apple Care Protection Plan" for 40$ after going through 3 iPods in 60 days. My 4th lasted around 9 months and then it started to get really hot during charging. Woke up after one night and found the screen broken and filled with the souls of millions of black pixels. Apple said that that wasn't covered by the fantastic protection plan, but that they could refer me to a 3rd party repair company that would likely do it for round 200 duckets... no thanks.
Picked up the Sansa e270, loved it. It never crashed, broke, or screwed up at all.
I just got my tax return (broke college student ftw) so I wanted something bigger and better. I found the Zune last week and impulse bought the hell out of it. Love it so far.

I picked that up too... that warranty is too damn good to be true. "Want to upgrade? Just bring in your Zune with your protection plan for a gift card at the value of your original purchase and use it to get the latest product."
Free upgrades > Apple (doesn't) Care Protection Plan
a) You might call me an "urban trendsetter"
b) I liked the big screen
c) I liked the FM Radio
Oh and I'm in Canada, so I had to get it unofficially.

I liked the way ppl couldn't get the software to work. I love M$ and am on vista ultimate. I liked the large screen and that I wouldn't have to use itunes anymore. Itunes sounds like total crap on my computer. WMP works much better and the zune software is very much like wmp.

yes, I think .wma and .wmv are much better then the Apple extensions. They really are. Smaller and better quality, it sweet. I converted all my songs using Tunebite.
Windows Media Player is also alot better then Itunes. Much better

Ya, I wanted something different as well. And sweet about getting the other people to get it as well! I have a few people saying they may buy a Zune soon to, because they have seen and used mine.
