I had a friend that had one and I absolutely loved it...
Now I have had it for a year or so and I take it everywhere...
I am planning on getting an 80gb soon...
It appealed to me because of the big screen, Xbox360 integration, radio, and the headphones were really cool too... And I simply HATED itunes and couldn't bear being stuck with it...
And the only reason Apple sells so many ipods is because they always break, forcing people to buy more...

And my girlfriend and friends always want to play with my Zune...

My sister got a Zune 30 for Christmas. When she saw that all of her friends had ipods she had to have one too. She was going to wait to get one for her birthday, but I'm getting a free one for signing up for something. Sooooo, I get her 30 gig Zune for a 4 gig ipod nano. I know, she's dumb.

So I obviously wanted the Zune over the ipod because of the 26 gig difference, and I ike the whole radio thing (the ipod doesn't have a radio, right???)

I got my Zune 80 after having a Creative Zen Xtra. It was 30 gigs, no color screen (so obviously no video), and got cr... poor battery life. I got it right as Creative was discontinuing it, which was around Christmas of 2005. And the thing was giant. The base system was at least twice as thick as an 80 and probably 1/2 an inch bigger on the other two sides. It came with a fake leather case which I "modded" by adding a plastic protector over the hole for the screen. I also had to cut a hole for the charger so I could charge it while it was still in the case. Much later I got an "iPod speaker case" which I took the speaker part out of and mounted on the official case, thereby making the unit twice as thick as it was originally (4 times as thick as a Zune 80).

I got my Zune for the same reason I got the Xtra 4 years ago. I have a big problem with big corporations manufacturing an anti-establishment image for themselves. So it should go without saying that I hate Apple and the Steve Jobs fan club.

I don't think that I'm a Microsoft fanboy, but I recognize when their products are good. The Xbox was a decent console, and the 360 is better than any of its contemporaries. I like the .NET languages; they're the easiest way to make a non-trivial program quickly. (They're also the only way to do homebrew on a Zune, which is something I'm looking forward to doing.) Hell, I even like Vista!

The Zune, so far, seems to be a decent music player. It has officially supported dev tools available to anyone with an Internet connection, and the company behind it adds useful features to it in product updates, not just bugfixes and preventing DRM cracks. No one else does these things, not even the supposed visionaries at Apple.

Well, i thought about buying a IPod Touch at first, it's the only product i like a little from apple, but i had thought about the Zune for a few years and when i saw the prices, a Zune 80 costed the same as an 8GB Touch. I downloaded the software and played a little with it, thinking "this is a piece of exellence". Thought about iTunes and ordered the Zune immediatly. I have never thought about considering an IPod after that. And im a MS fanboy and my uncle works for Microsoft. But i live in norway and had to get it unofficially(Don't tell Microsoft, but my uncle did't say anything). But i still want the marketplace though.

Try setting your system location to United States (Regional Settings)

iPod = Unless it is an iZune o.O

calling it izune would be like calling an ipod "zipod". It's like, wait what?

I'm a leader, not a follower. iPods suck, it's pure marketing (to quote a friend of mine). If the Zune would have been first, it would have been iPods that are in the hole and not as hip.

Ever since i got this computer 7 years ago, i always wondered about the Ipod, and wanted to try it out (since everyone had one). However, 2 years into that computer when the ipod nano (the black one with the metal back) came out, i wanted it sooo bad, but then due to lack of money and Christmas only came once a year, and bday gift was money spent on gba games, i decided to wait. Then the shuffle came, i wanted it sooo bad! And the school had a raffle to give away free shuffles for taking the PSAT (how cool?! i thought back then) so next thing you know i don't win, but my friend who did sold it to me for $45, i paid him 30 and middle school ended. I don't know if it was karma or what not but the shuffle stopped playing and i lost my voice recorder (which was what i used to listen to music before the shuffle). I tried the troubleshooting things that Ipod had and none worked, (5 R's my ass) next thing you know it stopped charging, and it just became a useless white squirtangle whatever it is, (and i bought a case for it 2 weeks before it died on me. So i was at luck, it died before Christmas, and that's when my mother and i went to the store and there it was... the magnificent Zune, it was on that case that illuminated the zune in the background and i swear i heard the "haaaaaah" sound lol. I looked at it and it reminded me of my friend in freshman year that had a toshiba gigabeat. i loved that device, (i feel like a whore loving all these devices ) so i couldn't help but feel the nostalgia of the interface. Then i was put to the test either the Gigabeat that laid in the counter glimmering brightly or the new Zune which nobody heard of back then like a big black block of hope by Microsoft. That's when it turned on by itself (i think the lady behind turned the power on via charge cable) and started to show the pictures it had and played some music. I (14 at the time) was amazed at the album art, the screen was way bigger than the gigabeat and the wi-fi thing just sounded cool to me (useless at that time since nobody had one, but i was sure that the Zune would come through). Then there that Ipod that lay next to the zune, didn't bother to look at it, good battery life? yes. but for only 8 months? (according to the Ipod store clerk). I took the zune brochure and re-read it over and over and over... like a monkey with a miniature cymbal~ lol and finally in christmas i dashed to get the second to last black 30 gb zune. :]

though, i had to return it to get it repaired (because i got curious and plugged the tv out cable to an extremely old television which plugs in the backround werent secure and destroyed the inside "too crisps" according to the store manager), I loved the experience with it and got the hearts of all my friends :]
and now two years later, i laugh at the Ipod, charging their clients for software updates > and extremely fast "fashion statement" they call a multimedia player. Even though my Zune is old, it will always get better.

:] and that's my story (sort of inspirational o__o wth never written like that before xD)

It wasn't an ipod and I didn't want to be with the crowd.
I first found about zune in gamestop. Although I was about to buy the zune 30, my mom turned me around to buying the zune 8. Never regretted it.

i have the 1st gen ipod nano, its a sexy little thing, but the battery life sucks and you have to get a case for it or it will get scratched and wont be nice anymore, plus it only had 2gb space

zune80 just seemed like the way to go, the only competition was the ipod classic which PHAILS in comparison =)

I bought the 80 GB zune to spite my gf's family whom are all apple fans, I am a traitor and wanted something different, So I choose the Zune, even though I am not a huge fan of most of Microsoft products as in the OS's , but I am stuck using them for various reasons.. I actually love the ZUNE and also today I figured out how to Wireless Sync it over my home network LAN that is something IPod can not do! and it rocks!! )

when i was about to start high school, i was set on getting a mac of some kind, probably mac mini because i only had a little over $800 at the time. one night i was at best buy looking at calculators for school, and i saw the PCs. i was surprised at how cheap they were (compared to Mac), and how much they offered RAM and Hard Drive wise. a day or two later i went to the apple store and was very disappointed when i tried out the computers they had. they had nothing i wanted, especially games. ever since that moment i have been a die-hard MS fan, wanting as little as possible to do with apple. i have quicktime installed, but that is all the apple i wanted. when the time came for me to buy an mp3 player, ipod was not even a consideration for me. since i like MS so much, i looked into the zune, and it had everything i wanted, especially support for games and other apps through xna game studio. i now recommend zune to any one who doesn't already have an ipod, which isn't many people. sadly, i have only met two other zune users in me zune experience, but everything else is definitely worth it and i continue to be glad about my choice.
