Well, I had a 1st gen ipod nano.

And I gotta say I liked it alot, until one day I had taken it out of my pocket and the screen broke!
Fortuantly, I had the year warranty so I looked it up and they told me that I never bought the warranty!

Outraged, I swore I would never get the ipod again (I also didn't like the look of the 2nd gen nano).
I was leaning towards the Creative Zen, until the day I saw the Zune I fell in love with the screen and just had to get it.

I've been happy ever since

didnt want itunes, didnt wanna pay $300 or w/e for a smaller screen and shorter battery life, figured a few more anti-apple points couldnt hurt

Many reasons:
  1. Folks working at the Apple store were snobs when I mentioned my old player (Sandisk) and saw my Blackjack phone
  2. I-Pod felt cheap compared to the Zune 30's sold feel
  3. Zune now has non-DRM music available
  4. Zune can now be a guest without erasing all content and you can easily copy music from the Zune to the desktop software
  5. Brown was just my color
  6. $79.00 at Woot

The commericals I saw in the month of November 2006 of the brown zune changed my life. I went to wal-mart the next month after christmas day and they were sold out of the brown ones so I thought that the black zune looked much better than the white one, and that is how MadameMasenko met Son Gohan....the end.

Apple has a brillant strategy* that I didn't want to buy into -- and I wanted a subscription plan.

I went with some Creative Zen players with Rhapsody, Yahoo, and then Urge. Then Urge folded into Rhapsody, I didn't want to go back to them, and Zune 2.0 was announced with an upgrade for original devices. So down the Zune path I've gone. Love my Black 30 and am getting a 80 from originals for Christmas.

*Closed architecture means an iTunes library only works on an iPod... so when it comes time to replace an iPod there is an investement in media that eliminates the competition because they can't support iTunes media.

I already own a iPod mini. But I thought it was time to upgrade. With the iPods being so expensive and the new ones impossible to open. I decided to buy the zune. At least I can change the battery myself, with the iPod I would have to send it back to apple with a big cheque.

I chose my Zune 30 for all the reasons stated except the last one because I was in such a hurry to get one. Once I had enough cash, I got ONE!!

This may sound dumb but I can't run the stupid wheel thing on the iPod. and I picked the zune because it has a bigger screen and i like to look of it better. and I HATE ITUNES!!!!!
