i got my zune 80, because i wanted to play videos on a big screen, and the ipod never really appealed to me, and it was one of the best decisions ive made in terms of technology, and all my friends were jealous,(except now one of my friends got a zune hd). i also got everyone in my school to like them over the ipod

As the current owner of over 300 DAP/PMP units, I said - Why Stop Now?

My ZUNE HD 32gb is one of the best designed pieces of consumer electronics I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

Enough Said!

So why is it that you, even through all that hype, chose the Zune?

Was it becuase you are a MS fanboy?
Hated the ipod?
Don't go for fads like the ipod?
Wanted to be different?
Had to many problems with your ipod?
Wanted the first generation of a kick@ss mp3 player?
Did someone give it to you as a gift over your will?
Or What...

I was a big fan of MS but not anymore(problem with zune 30 and 360 RROD)
also i had an 80gb ipod but the battery died a couple of months after i got it and that made me mad. I was also leaving for vacation and i needed an mp3 player so i bought one from my friend for 200 dollars. I lived overseas so i couldn't go buy one from the store. But i think im going back to apple

-----------------------
This is my story...

Well I have had my4th generation 20GB ipod for a number of years. The device was very much outdated (didn't even have color!) and I wanted to upgrade. One thing I really wanted was to be able to watch videos on what ever mp3 player I got.

I looked at the Ipod and the 80GB video ipod looked appealing. However, that tiny box screen convinced me that it wasn't worth it. The videos would look ugly and small on such a small screen. Having the 4th generation ipod for so long also convinced me that the ipod video was not the way to go. I have brought my ipod back for a replacement many many times. Whenever I go for a replacement there is always a long line of others replacing theres. I did not want all those problems to come haunt me again if I bought a new Ipod. Come to think of it, my ipod has probably spent more time borken then it has been ok. The screen of the ipod and the whole body of the ipod has always attracted scratches and fingerprints. The ipods kinda have a rep for scratched up screens. So that is why I didn't go with the Ipod.

I also looked at a few others alternitives. Like the Creative Zen for example. They had video Zens that had large hardrives. However the Zen was expensive and didn't issactly have that same sexy look as the Zune (or ipod). So that is when I looked at the Zune. The Zune had a very attractive look and a large screen. It was love at first sight. The body of the Zune didn't attract any fingerprints or scratches and the double effect was awsome. The screen look and size was the real think that got me to buy it. However the only 30GB was a bit of a downer. I had also never seen anyone else with the mp3 player, so it gave me a sense of being an outcast! I love being the only with a cool device. Everybody who uses my Zune also loves it.

So that is why I bought the Zune over the ipod. What about you?

I stuck it out with my old Iriver H300 brick, until I could over to US and get the Zune, I REFUSE to buy and ipod. Those white earphones are just the wool of a sheep to me. I find the scroll wheel hard to use, they are DISGUSTINGLY overpriced and just overall a big let down. I would have taken anything over an ipod. Why not go the best with the Zune hey?

I try to buy the best I can afford. My first player was the Rio Karma. At the time widely considered among the best available. Not sure if I had heard of the Ipod at that time. Next was the Dell DJ. Bought as an impulse thing I think. After that was the Zen Vision:M again widely considered among the 2 or 3 best on the market at the time.

By now I started noticing who was buying the Ipod. Mostly people buying them for their kids or grandkids because they had heard of them and thought mp3 players were new things. People started to say mp3 players were Ipods instead of Ipods being Mp3 players. They really did not know any better. Now the Zune 30 could not hold a light to the Zen Vision:M so now go there. But the Zune 80 was love at first sight. I even bought my girls Zune 8 & 16 models last Christmas.

The Zune HD has moved the Ipod even further from my consciousness. That being said If somebody gave me an Ipod touch or I won one in a contest I would keep it.
