Because it categorically kicks more ass. Honestly, on the NAKS (National Ass-Kickin' Scale) it ranks a 42.8 to iPod's 4.1. It really does. Also, it has the benefit of actually working.

I choose the Zune becuase I live in Seattle and Microsoft is in my "back yard" as they say. I had to support my neighbor even though my wife's great uncle works for Apple and we have been "dissowned" by most off the family.

Don't worry. We are only dissowned when it comes to electronics. I love my xbox too but her brother swears by that Sony P.O.S.

I liked the Zune80 since i first saw it at a Circuit City store. I've been a Creative guy forever and was looking for a replacement when these puppies came out.

I've never owned an apple product

I hope my next mp3 player would be a Cowon one, but that would not be in at least 2 years

okay For christmas every year we get to pick 1 BIG present to be from my grandma (she has mental problems so thats why if u were wondering

) i had gotten a 30gb Ipod video the year before and never really liked it. I was getting into music (alot) and wanted another MP3 ( plus my bro lost my ipod half way around the world ;( ) So im on my comp lookin around 2 weeks before christmas lookin at stuff then BAM im on gamestop.com and an add comes up when im lookin at games i may want for the zune
i saw the 2nd gen 80gb and i was like THAT is gonna be mine so i started lookin up stuff about it. WHen my mom asked i told here i wanted a ZUNE 80GB 2nd gen and shes like wtf? i explained i was so excited i was watchin peoples out of the box reviews say u could sync wirelessly and stuff and i was like WOW so i had my heart on it. Although ppl never heard of it. I decided it was worth a try and stuff i was lookin at the market place and stuff but Christmas eve we stayed up all night i was on my laptop just lookin,reading, and watching vids and stuff about the 2nd gen one and how its new i was so happy.

Next morning i go down find the pakage first thing and shed it up and i was SOOO Happy/ Upset! My mom had gotten A zune but it wS the 30gb 1 gen and i was like "say wha???' but i was upset but got over it worst part it it was off EBAY ! lol but ive enjoyed it so far and im ready to UPGRADE to a 2nd gen

gonna get a green this time if i can but hopefully ill get it

Still havent met someone with a zune or kno what it is but its different and fun

I didn't.
I had a black 2gb Ipod nano long before my zune.
I only got the zune because. well. I managed it for 20 dollars, after an amazon sale plus an amazon rebate.
I wanted the zune for it's bigger screen, but I wasn't going to buy it unless it was significantly cheaper than an ipod.

I had some crappy ipod shuffle. Long Story Short, it's a memory stick now.

And the zune was just a better device. I remember the day we went to target to get a blue nano (the nice old ones). Got to the mp3 player's and the ipods where on the left and some weird ass device on the right (Zune). I saw that the weird ass device (WAD) was on sale. (The day they dropped the price to 200). Quickly grabbed a red one, and loved it ever since

I chose the Zune after years of using Creative players. I wanted something new...something sleek...something feature packed...and something fresh! Well along comes the Zune and I was hooked. I'd played with ipods from friends and was never truly impressed. I finally snatched a brown one up for less that $100 bucks online...well...my mother in law got it for me for Christmas but I pointed her in the right direction...this was almost a year ago. So it was a first generation but at the time Microsoft let us know about the major firmware upgrades to version 2...I was excited!

Once I unboxed and connected it has worked flawlessly from day one...and with the version 3.0 coming out tomorrow...it'll be like having a new player all over again!

Seriously though...I love all aspects of the Zune...just now becoming more involved with the social side of things though. I'm excited for the new FM features and the wifi marketplace...not to mention gaming. What people who have played with my Zune have most enjoyed is the video playback, and user interface...they are astonished by the amount of dvd's I've dropped onto the thing! My only complaint (and it is not about the player) is that the premium earbuds went out after a week of use...sucks...but hasn't ruined the whole Zune experience for me.

I actually dislike many of the decisions Microsoft have in place. I have a silver account on Xbox live and I can't even play Burnout Paradise with the newest content, which is supposed to be free for everyone!

Hated the ipod?
Because of people putting so much hype in it, yes. However, I did try an iPod and a Zen Creative V mp3 player, as well as putting a few hours of research into deciding what would be best.

Don't go for fads like the ipod?
I'd get it, as long as it lived up to my standards. But I've heard some people say how weak they are, as well as being scratch and smudge prone. I've got OCD, so I'd probably go nuts trying to resolve the issue.

Wanted to be different?
A contributing factor, of course.

Had to many problems with your ipod?
This was the first mp3 player I owned, so, I can't really speak on that.

Wanted the first generation of a kick@ss mp3 player?
Actually, I wanted one when first generation was out. I kept putting it off until one day I saved enough money to buy something of my own. I decided that if I was going to get an mp3 player, I would need the biggest bang for my buck. There were many setbacks such as no clocks, but I still am glad I went for it. And the screen, which is important for me, is huge!

Did someone give it to you as a gift over your will?
I'll take any mp3 player over nothing.

I love this mp3 player, and probably wouldn't trade it for any other. Sure, it may not have had those cheap games at the time I got it, but I still loved it!

Only problems that truly bug me are the quality of the touch pad, which seems to deteriorate or be weak, and the life of the battery. I know that maybe I'm using it more than I realize, or maybe I overcharged it, but I still wish it could be a little better. Especially for the videos, which last 6 hours if I'm correct.

I chose my first zune because it was something new and different from everybody's ipod. I loved the big screen and thought that the wifi could have some pretty sweet possibilities. Now im stuck on zune and despise and think ipod users are just blind to see how great the sune really is. People that i know that own a zune become somewhat friends just knowing we can share songs...lol...but i will never buy a ipod because zune has kicked it in the balls!

Hmm, an iPod shuffle memory stick sounds aesthetically appealing. If only I still had it. I lost 3 iPods before I finally got a Zune, and I am never going back. I was just tired of iPods. Plus, I was probably cursed.

I had bought a ipod at a game store for 90 bucks a 30 gb video ipod it was OK, i mean it was plain and not good looking white and so on. I told my mom for christmas i would give her my ipod if she bought me a zune. She bought me one and i love it zunes are more peronal and more update software. Easy running, the ipods are a circle wheel which sucks cause to pick one thing you miss it over 20 times cause you keep passing it up. My zune is deffently one of the greatest things ive ever gotten.
Now only thing that ipod queer boys had on us was no games or time.
The new update is amazing it proved those fags wrong. We have more than they do now. So give it time i bet that zune well reach the top.
Also when you plug your ipod in to get some of your friends songs on his computer it erases yours and puts his/her on them thats gay. On a zune it doesnt and allows you to get his/her songs and keep yours.

well i had never had an iPod. i had been using my PSP with a 4GB memory stick for years but that is not very pocket friendly. after i realized that i was only using my PSP for music and videos, i thought 'well i dont want to lug this thing around if im not even playing games on it', so i decided to get a dedicated MP3 player. after doing some research, i narrowed it down to a iPod Classic 80GB and a Zune80 mostly since i was so tired of constantly picking what to have on my tiny 4GB stick when my music collection is well over 60GB+ and growing (and not to mention pics and vids). they both had very comparable features but i finally picked the Zune for a number of reasons.

-im not a fan of the Clickwheel. many of my friends have iPods and in the short time ive used them, they have been cramptastic. couldnt imagine that everyday.

-larger screen. and that glass screen looks much better than the iPods plastic one.

-wireless sync is a great feature. as soon as i turn my laptop on, it autosyncs my Zune without me having to do anything. and also the fact that simply sticking music in the My Music folder is all i really need to do to get my music on my Zune.

-the original Zune was hideous, but the Zune80 looks WAY better than an iPod IMHO

-i liked the interface a lot better. that superwhite, small album art screen didnt appeal to me like the Zune's. its also more customizable.

-other than that, it just came down to not wanting to have an iPod like everybody else

there were a couple drawbacks though at first. i was infatuated with iTunes and Zune just seemed clunky to me at first (i love it now after using it for half a year). and i hate that it cant be used as a mass storage device without a hack, and also that my PS3 cant recognize it while it will recognize and iPod (i would love to charge the Zune and play its music through my PS3).

i dont regret my decision at all. as far as i can see, ill never own an iPod as long as Zune is around. i can only see it getting better.

The Larger screen and ability to customize the background of the zune itself played a huge part of me getting this mp3 player.. I still don't regret it either.

When I was first wanting a media player, the Zune had just recently had come out. I heard that you could share music to Zune-Zune, and was like: Dude! That would be so cool to be able to share music with any other Zune! I then saw a couple, and got to mess around with them. Love at first sight
