I really love the smooth integration with Vista, it is like carrying Windows Media Center with me. I spend a lot of time watching TV shows in WMC and now I can carry them with me easily.

I can do the same with a my Dell Axim, but this has much bigger HDD and the interface is great. I have nearly driven into many ditches trying to navigate through my PDA to find the music I want. In a sense both devices do the same thing, but using the PDA is like dancing in rubber boots, you can do it, but it is ugly.

So why is it that you, even through all that hype, chose the Zune?

Was it becuase you are a MS fanboy?
Hated the ipod?
Don't go for fads like the ipod?
Wanted to be different?
Had to many problems with your ipod?
Wanted the first generation of a kick@ss mp3 player?
Did someone give it to you as a gift over your will?
Or What...

-----------------------
This is my story...

Well I have had my4th generation 20GB ipod for a number of years. The device was very much outdated (didn't even have color!) and I wanted to upgrade. One thing I really wanted was to be able to watch videos on what ever mp3 player I got.

I looked at the Ipod and the 80GB video ipod looked appealing. However, that tiny box screen convinced me that it wasn't worth it. The videos would look ugly and small on such a small screen. Having the 4th generation ipod for so long also convinced me that the ipod video was not the way to go. I have brought my ipod back for a replacement many many times. Whenever I go for a replacement there is always a long line of others replacing theres. I did not want all those problems to come haunt me again if I bought a new Ipod. Come to think of it, my ipod has probably spent more time borken then it has been ok. The screen of the ipod and the whole body of the ipod has always attracted scratches and fingerprints. The ipods kinda have a rep for scratched up screens. So that is why I didn't go with the Ipod.

I also looked at a few others alternitives. Like the Creative Zen for example. They had video Zens that had large hardrives. However the Zen was expensive and didn't issactly have that same sexy look as the Zune (or ipod). So that is when I looked at the Zune. The Zune had a very attractive look and a large screen. It was love at first sight. The body of the Zune didn't attract any fingerprints or scratches and the double effect was awsome. The screen look and size was the real think that got me to buy it. However the only 30GB was a bit of a downer. I had also never seen anyone else with the mp3 player, so it gave me a sense of being an outcast! I love being the only with a cool device. Everybody who uses my Zune also loves it.

So that is why I bought the Zune over the ipod. What about you?
too lazy to read the rest of forum. but anyways here's my story:
i'm asian-american so i celebrate x-mas and chinese new year. i used all the collected money to buy a nintendo DS and a game. but unfortunally for some reason the game dont work with the system so i returned both of those item. i still wanted to spend the money and i had like $200 in hand. i was aiming for a iPod shuffle since i didnt think i have enough for a good iPod. but then RIGHT NEXT TO the shuffle was the zune! i never seen a zune, it was interasting to me. so i read what a zune was and what it does and i thought, hey a zune sounds better than a iPod. so i bought the zune 8 for $170. the best $170 i ever spent in my lifetime! it's fate, it's total fate that brought me and my zune together :happytears:

I saw that the Zune had a big screen and could play video so it was pretty much a no-brainer for me. Plus I'm a bit of an MS fanboy.

Well, I heard that microsoft was making a "portible gaming unit" to rivle the gameboy and psp, I have a 360, so Im like "nice" so a few months later, I knew about the zune and when it came out, i didn't have money, but a few days before christmas, I found zunes at staples for $229 and I had the money and got it on a trip to my grandmothers house the next day. I loaded it and figured it out with ease, disappointed about lack of 360-zune support. Last week, I found the ONLY(maybe not only) zune 80gb in vermont and I bought it. I love it, but I miss being able to change songs in my pocket I like changinge songs by pressing the button in my pocket while I am doing something. Also, I wanted to do something different, and even got one of my friends to get a zune.
And that, is my story, a bit late, but it's here...

i originaly bought the zune alittle over a year ago after my ipod broke. wanted to try something diferent. got 1 for $150 off craigslist that was basically brand new oput the box, the seller even included a wired remote and belkin case . a reeeal good deal at the time.

thanks to the old zune software ability to copy over itunes playlists etc.. i had no problem organizing and putting music on my zune. and loved it for the bigger screen to watch videos. some time later my screen broke. i honestly dont remember sitting on it or anything thing. and it seemed cracked from the inside. then i hit the web and seen that was happening to a lot of peoples zunes. so i bought another ipod for the simplicity of it and i was afraid if i bought another zune my screen would crack again on its own.

well alittle later on the ipod broke. lol .battery stopped charging . i was gonna buy another one but then i realized i still had my 30 gig zune. good condition but just needed a new screen. so i got the screen replaced for cheap from a local repair shop. hopefully it doesnt crack again. if it does. im getting a itouch and done with zune forever.

zune is a good device but you have to be a bit of a techie to even do the simplest things on it . wjich is why it will never catch on to the mainstream in a big way. ipods biggest selling point is its simplicity itunes is easy to use out the box. if microsoft would make the zune software more itunes like then more people would use the zune.

I still say Zune is much easier to use on the actual device...

As for the software, that really got dumbed down. So I'd say it's much easier to use than iTunes at the moment, just not as powerful.

I chose the Zune because it has a much bigger screen and the FM receiver is a pretty cool feature. Updatable firmware is realy nice, too. I love my Zune

Talking I'm a cheapo.

I wanted a Zune since the day I heard about it. That christmas, my best friend got one too.

I forgot about it for a while.

Then, last Black Friday, I was was mp3 player-less, and the 30 gig Zune was on sale for $90

I bought it, and loved it so far, besides the minor setbacks in the software :]

I got a zune basically because I hate how everybody refers to mp3 players as "ipods". People believe mp3 players are a branch of "ipods", when its actually the other way around. I have sworn never to get an ipod.

unless the 32 gig ipod touch goes on sale for 200
