Well after searching and searching the web for my new mp3 player. I came across reviews and websites like zuneboards with alot of explanation and comparisons from zune to ipod. Which made it easy Zune was the new mp3 player for me! I knew I would get either a zune 80gb, or if I got a ipod it would be the new nano. Only because at the time I didn't have a music collection. In the end I went with the zune80, from zune originals.
1.Big Screen!
2.Sleek and nice especially with the engraving.
3.It's different then what you see on a regular day basis.
4.Wireless sync is hott!
5.Zune pad! Love it! Hate the clickwheel for the ipod.
6. Easy interface.
7. Being able to change the background, gave my zune a new identity everyday.(new background pic)
8. The zune premium headphones looked like a great deal!
And a whole lot more things aswell. Also because for $200.00 I could get a ipod 8gb nana. For 50 dollars more I can get 10x as much space. A big screen and hot features. Plus I like how Microsoft releases new updates(firmware) for future zunes.
Zune all the way!!!!

I read the reviews, compared the iCrap with the Zune, and it became a no-brainer. My wife noticed me checking them out and gave me the dough for it for Valentines day. I knew I married the right woman!!!

I wanted a Zune because

-Too many people have iPods i gotta be different..
-The new iPods look like they are straight up meant for girls
-Zunes have wireless
-Zunes have radio
-Zunes have a bigger screeen
-Zunes support other formats besides acc
-Zunes Software isn't the best but I like it better than iTunes
-Customizable background
-WIRELESS FREAKIN SYNC IS AWESOME
-Zune 8 is cheaper (which is what I have)

Basically just all around better everything..

I wanted either a 30 or an 80 gb player

Then on Black Friday(The day after Thanksgiving, where people go out shopping at 3 a.m.)

I managed to buy a 30 gb for only $100

I am really glad to see so many people on one forum that also hate apple.

I bought a Zune because ipods are gay, apple is lame, and itunes is crap.

I bought my 30 due to a Black Friday ad + I wanted something different than an Ipod. I don't have anything against Apple. It's just like for a very long time Ipods were like rear ends, EVERYONE had one! I'm unique, just ask my mommy. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought the Zune for several reasons:
1. Apple sucks!
2. Quicktime sucks!
3. I love how big the screen is on the Zune!
4. I can't stand the iPod interface.

The iPod interface is actually nice when you think about it.

Pretty much revolutionized the MP3 experience.

I've always disliked Apple products, even though I used them almost exclusively in grade school. I've just always been a PC kinda girl!

Also, I pride myself on not being a lazy half-wit. Not to say that all Apple users are that, of course. But a main draw is, "Take it out of the box and plug it in and you're ready to go!" as opposed to PC/MS stuff where it's basically just as simple, except you have more options (options! third party soft/hardware! yikes! my brain might explode!), so things have the potential to get more complicated.

Also, when the white earbuds are a status symbol, that makes me want to gag even harder.

My first music player was a Dell DJ four years ago, and though it has its flaws, I still really like it a lot. It actually still works perfectly, but it was only a 20gb, and I just needed more space.

Sure, the 160gb iPod was tempting space-wise, but the brand left me absolutely cold, so an 80gb Zune was my Christmas wish. Ask and ye shall receive!

And now that I've got the tagging kinks worked out of my music collection, my Zune is working like a charm and I couldn't be happier with it! In fact, my brother just got one for his birthday and when my boyfriend gets around to getting a music player, it's looking like Zune will be his player of choice!

Zune power! etc. etc.

I have a fourth gen ipod (when it was just music and photo). It has the absolute worst sound quality of anything I've ever used to play music. Apparently it was a known issue with the headphone jack or something. I even went to the Genius bar and complained, and the guy knew what I was talking about. Sent out to get me a "new" one. It had the same exact problem. Sound was ok through the bottom port with accessories, but through the headphone jack it sounded horribly muttled. That experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. I had listened to a first gen Zune at a Dell kiosk in the mall awhile back, and it sounded good. So when the wife wanted an MP3 player, I decided to go with a Zune. I also liked the form factor better than the new iPod Nano. And after she got hers, I decided I wanted one to replace my iPod. My 80G Originals should be here this week...

I love the Zune but hate the software somewhat. I got one for Christmas. I was debating between the Ipod classic and Sansa view. When MS said announced the Zune 80 and said the new features were backward compatible the Ipod was out of the picture, and then getting 64 GB extra for $50 made my decision. Apple loves releasing new products that have one or two new killer features, that there seams to be no reason that they aren't backwards compatible, but they like making you buy new hardware. Can't wait to see whats in the Zune 3, and comes to the 4/8/80 and possibly 30 too. My problem with the software though is that you can't easily manipulate playlists or edit advanced attributes from what I can see. Also not being able to delete podcast episodes and have them stay deleted (I'd like to keep all episodes I haven't played, but only keep 1 or 0 episodes that I have played).

@FauxCivility: BTW, apple copied from creative on the ipod interface and CMT on itunes

On your first claim, Apple indeed had to pay Creative because of patent issues. However, with that said, I think the patent that Creative filed in 2001 was too broad and is just another patent that is making our system ****. Not to say Apple hasn't done tons of the same things. But Apple had definitely improved the interfaces that we expect from MP3 players.

And to be honest, I'm not sure what CMT is. :[

@FauxCivility: Yes, the patent was broad but the NOMAD interface from 2000 was a precurser to the patent and the ipod. CMT is Contois Music Technology, whom Apple also had to settle a lawsuit with.

Well, we all know how many lawsuits Microsoft has had to bend to

I don't think we can really call the kettle black in this situation.

EDIT: I do give the Zune interface for being aesthetically pleasing and easy to use though, much faster than the iPod for getting around / turning shuffle on / etc. Don't get me wrong, I def like the Zune.

I had an ipod nano, and planned on buying a video - that is, until my brother bought a zune. I went down to florida to visit (he used to work at disney haha) and he showed it to me, which basically immediately made me change my mind. It took me another year to get a brown 30 gb though. Through some amazon deals I ended up at about 50 dollars for it I think. Who could resist such a deal?
