if best buy was sending him a new one, and they werent asking for the old one back...I would just have RMA that one, hello that was obviously a factory defect.
hahah nice.. well if i was him i would have probaly done the same thing. i mean if none work... and your get a new one for free u might as well have fun with broken ones and try a few things that wouldn't always be available. this just means that we now know one way to not take apart a zune.. xD
thts blashpemy! although i thought it was sweet best buy sent him a new one, which is pretty xpensive, fer free. lucky, ive had the same one fer ovr a year (and i still love it)

just thinking. Could you get a divider for the hard drive and connect the 120 to the outside of the 30? as another drive? or would it not read it. make a program that could switch drives... am i blabbin on?
So if he dident have the skills to fix one "Blue Wire" what in the sam hell made him think he could successfully swap hard drives?? In his shoes with my skills i could have fixed the wire or swapped the drives, but lemme weigh my options here... new shiny 120gb or old 30gb zune (No Offence to the 30 owners) with a 120 hard drive.... ill take the first but if i was really smart about it i would keep the zune that replaced it, return the broken one to microsoft, get a replacement and sell it. or give it as a gift to someone you wanted to think you spent alot of money on
John
if it worked, would the zune 30 with a 120 gb harddrive be recognized as a zune 120 in the zune software?
ps. i would buy for a dollar.

No, it would be recognized as a 30 because the of the firmware, which will identify itself as a 30. People have swapped in 80 GB drives into the 30 before, and it just reads as a 30, but with 80 GB to work with.

Actually, I'd rather swap the Zune 30's processor into my Zune 120 (if that were even possible). I don't know if you Zune 30 owners realize, but the processor in the Zune 30 is better than the ones found any v2 or v2.5 Zunes. The screen refresh rate is better so graphics run more smooth. Just me thinking out loud....but it's true when they say the Zune 30 is a solid piece of technology....

dumb****s. they should no better than to waste $250 and just to go on another site to get a 120GB HD for a hell of a lof less
They were already getting another 120, free. They had a faulty 120 and a faulty 30, neither of which alone was any good to them. So, they lose nothing by breaking both, though I doubt it was their intention. Had they done it right, well then, there was much to gain. A 30 with a working hard drive, and 120 GB to boot.
