Default So long zune 80...

I loved my Zune 80 but today I had to exchange it for an 80gb ipod classic. I had the zune for less than two weeks (12 days) and the device would crash every other day and not recognize all of my music (after retagging 7000 songs 4 times). In fact it crashed 2 minutes after I initially put my music on the device. It is absolutely the best mp3 player in regards to capacity, screen size, sound, and interface but not very reliable and no adaptation for the car except the headphone jack (c'mon microsoft it's freakin' 2008).

I called support 6 times and their help would sometimes work and sometimes waste my time.

I downloaded the zaltenator, winamp and media monkey. Media monkey worked very well with the device imo. I just couldn't understand why MS didn't allow for the device to sync with WMP without me having to jump through all these hoops.

I had the option of just getting another zune (best buy replacement plan) but I'm not going through this again. As much as I hate itunes and dislike apple I'm actually getting my money's worth with itunes and an ipod. I went through 5 ipods (the last one died and I figured I'd get a zune 80) without ever having to retag mp3s so the ipod would recognize my music.

I guess the final straw was when I was driving to a club on saturday with a couple friends in the car and while listening to a song on the zune the screen goes black. restarting did nothing and I was forced to rely on my "back-up" cds. I had just finished boasting about how my zune was the **** and then it ****ted on me.

I thank you all for your wealth of information and help with my issues. Maybe in a year or so I'll try it again. I'm just glad I didn't splurge on accessories (except for the dLo leather case which I exchanged for the ipod leather case).

Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves. I'm still not a fan of apple but they're not going to lose the mp3 player battle if this is what their up against. I'm referring to sales figures and overall customer satisfaction. I never joined an ipod forum because I was too busy listening to the ipod to talk about it. However, with the zune, I signed up on like 4 different forums an hour after it crashed for the first time (4 hours after I purchased it) not because I wanted to chat with you fine folks (I sincerely mean no offense to anyone on any zune forum) but because I really really needed help with my new $250 mp3 player. This site is extremely useful and I was able to enjoy my device thanks to the information within this forum. I just don't have time to give the zune cpr 3 or 4 times a week.

Enjoy your zunes. I'll miss my old 1. Peace.

Mine has crashed once sience jan 2008, an the only back and play worked, got it working by letting the battery run try, zune is nice, but MS needs to work on their hardware more!!
Also because it has a harddrive It can break easily before even hitting the store, It may have more space but lets face it Flash is better.

My Zune 80 has worked well for me in the three months I've had it - the only time it's crashed was shortly after I had upgraded to the 3.0 firmware (though it only did it twice in one day, and hasn't done it since).

.....of course, I do have to laugh at the thought that you hate iTunes and such, yet weren't willing to admit that maybe you just had a defective Zune. Should've just replaced it and seen if a 2nd one had the same issues.
