Why do you want an archos over the Zune? Did you have problems with it?

Do you live outside of the US, have Paypal, and want the Zune Pass? If so PM me.

You shouldn't buy the archos because zunes are better. Lul. But seriously, whats the reasoning for switching in the first place?

Same everything, costs more just for a slightly larger screen.

Actually, that's a solid player.
I bought one off eBay years ago, but the thing only worked for a day before it crapped out.
With a warranty, that'd be a good alternative if you can't go Zune

People are kind of biased here, that "slightly larger screen" is actually more than an inch larger, it's a 16:9 screen (better for movies than the 4:3 screen on the Zune), and much higher resolution, so the Archos 605 makes a much better video player, and it's not a small difference. The Wifi is also more useful, with an internet browser. It also doesn't require any software to transfer content to the player. The downside is you have to pay seperately for the browser, and for extra codecs if you want them (it supports Divx/Xvid out of the box though). It's also larger of course, but in person it's actually smaller than it seems in pictures, at least in my opinion, not as compact as the Zune obviously. The sound quality isn't as good as the Zune, if you have high quality earphones you'll hear the difference, and it doesn't support any lossless compression, just the basic MP3, WMA (and AAC with a plug-in).

Basically, what it comes down to, the Zune is a better audio player, the 605 is a better video player. I'd only get the 605 if you plan to play a lot of video or if you want a browser.

I think the Archos is a pretty cool player, this guy seems to give a pretty good review too. Personal preference I suppose. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Hell, if you want a bigger screen.
The Zen Vision W is where it's at.
You can shove a 120gb laptop hard drive in it without voiding the warranty.
It's got a beast of a screen.

The Vision W's screen is lower resolution than the 605's screen (only 480 x 272, compared to 800x480 on the 605), and it doesn't display as many colors (262k compared to the 16 million color display on the 605). Also, the Vision W lacks the Wifi of the 605, the extra video formats you can buy the plug-ins for on the 605, and has shorter battery life.
