My story so far with my Zune

So I practically the only one at school who has a Zune 80 (some random people have zune 30s, which i found supriseing). I got my zune for my bday, asked all my friends to pitch in money so i could get it. I almost freaked out because I had numerous gift cards to target that contributed to the fund and I thought they we're out of stock at the time and god forbid i'd have to be an ipod classic and conform! Luckily they guy at the desk was also a zuner and went to the back and found a zune 80 there! I was over joyed and expecting it, I had already setup the software and all i needed to do was press the sync button and wait.

A couple hours later i was listening to music, browesing videos, and viewing video podcasts. So much better compared to my lost ipod nano. The sad thing about that ipod was that I won it for a dollar on the Stacker machine in an arcade. I had exchanged $20 dollars in coins to test my luck on the machine and all my friends thought I was crazy. on the FIRST TRY I wan my first media player, a silver 2g nano. I lost it during a camping trip though and it still hurts me sentimentally that i lost a $150 device that I won for a dollar.

But back to the zune. My experience at my school was very mixed. My friends all loved it compared to there christmas/ bday gifts (ipod classic, touch, iphones, etc. Very nice to be different). I'm in choir at school and sometimes my friends want to listen to a song so they can sing it. I've had to explain to them how to use it, but the reactions i got were astounding. "Dude, this is so much better than an ipod... and Theres BACKGROUNDS!" , "This touch pad thingy is sooo much better than the click wheel, and it goes down instead of up when i'm looking at my library instead of the opposite like on my iphone". "I thought the zune was a big and clunky device, but that was a the 30 gig right? This new one is so much cooler. I might buy one" And the bast exclamation I got was from two very hot chicks "Woah, why do people buy ipods, they're so ugly compared to this!" (I kid you not, I was shocked myself). I showed my teacher and he wants to buy one after i showed him the radio with the meta data (major oldies and 80s rock kind of guy who has a slew of favorite radio stations).

I've also had some bad remarks though. "Thank you, I now have to burn my eyes. I never saw one of those things in person until you showed me" (coming from a litteraly gay apple fanboy, we're still friends but he hates when i bring out my zune). "Why would I get that if I could get an ipod for the same price" (some idiot in my eng class who thinks that ipod is still better even when he just proclaimed how much cooler the zune interface was). "The zune is **** just like its color!" (some idiot who hasn't really played with a zune and sees that it's not that bad and conforms to ipod only status".

Strangley enough, there are people i know that have other alternatives like sansas. They all say that the Sansa will take over with its mic and sd slot and what not, but still like the zune regardless.

The zune is by far one of the best little handheld toys I have had. The only thing i could compare to in uses is my hacked release date psp. The only downfall of the psp to me is the lack of a proper medium of storage. I want/ need gigabytes and even though i have everything streamed to me on the psp it's just not practical. I can say that the psp would totaly beat the zune in handheld entertainment standards if it had a bigger storage option and a smaller form. But I understand that those two devices are hard to compare and the zune still takes the cake. I love the interface of the zune compared to the numerous ipods (My bros both have 5.5g ipods and it feels very dated compared to the zune. even the ipod classic feels dated. and in my view, the ipod touch as well just doesn't feel right. I know many will beg to differ. Maybe it's all that black background or something.)

Well, thank you for reading, and please reply. That's my story and by the ratio of complaints to comments that i have recieved about the zune shows that it still has a fighting chance against the ipod.

Ouch about losing the dollar-iPod! But at least you didn't actually pay $150 for it...that would've been worse than losing your dollar-investment!

Plus, if you hadn't lost it, perhaps you wouldn't have gotten your Zune. Everything happens for a reason!

Nice success story! I know what happened. The Ipod ran back to the stackers machine so it would look like nobody won. I knew somebody had to win those things.
