I'm a Pocket PC (Windows Mobile) Software Developer and I never had an interest in listening to lots of music beyond channel surfing on my car radio. Several years ago I had an MP3 player that I used at the gym, but it was a hassle finding mp3 files, uploading, etc. So, I never had an interest in the Apple iPods.
Just recently, I started to read up on the new Zune devices that were coming out and it perked my interest, particularly the audio and video podcast capability. I was very impressed to the progress of podcast technology, and wanted to explore it further. After I read up on the new Zune 80 GB device and played around with the new Zune software for the PC (aka, iTunes for the Zune), I was hooked. The Zune software was so not-Microsoft, that I really liked it. I've never used iTunes before, so I can't make a comparison, but in any case, I found the Zune software to be very logical and easy to use. Especially when searching and subscribing to audio and video podcasts. As such, I asked my wife to buy me a Zune 80 GB as a Christmas present for this year. While I'm waiting, I've been reading up as much as I can on the various Zune forums, testing out different applications and procedures for rippping DVD movies to WMV format for the Zune. So for now, the Zune appears to be a true 'iPod killer' device, but time will tell after I actually get my Zune if it will work as expected. cohoman |

I'm also pretty impressed with the Zune 2. I was looking into a new mp3 player, so I did some research, and decided that the Zune 80gb was my best option. So far, the research paid off.

I've been happy with the brown 30gig I got for $90 and I purchased the 8 gig for the gf. I have no major complaints and I need music 24 hours a day.

Wow, I just came across my original posting here and in just a few short weeks I've learned so much about using the Zune from the different Zune forums and web sites. If you're curious about my first impressions, how I convert videos, and other random Zune thoughts, check out my Blog link below.
After owning a Zune for two weeks I have to say I'm still very excited about having one!
