Default [SOLVED] Help my Zune may be broke forever....help me!

It was raining today ( I am taking summer school on a college campus) I was going to the library and like every time I leave my place I listen to my Zune, as I was trying to cross the street my Zune fell out of my pocket and it landed in a small puddle of water I mean it was a every very little puddle.....I picked it up in less than 8 seconds when it dropped. At first nothing seemed wrong with the Zune but as I was walking the Zune kept on cutting off like the music would pause on its own...but when I made it to the Library the Zune cut off again it just went black and it's not cutting back on....what should I do......who would make something this expensive and it can't take a little water is it that fragile...I just feel like crying now...my biggest fear was for my Zune to crash..I paid to much money for this...stuff like this makes me want to go back to the Ipod.

Well you SHOULD have turned it off immediately... you probably shorted when trying to play even more music.

Every single electronic product that is not advertised as waterproof.

Sorry to hear that, but it was user error, not the device error.

Troubleshooting This

- Turn your Zune OFF (Back + Up)
- Open Your Zune Up and remove the battery
- Use a hair dryer to dry it out as much as possible
- Leave it open, and keep it on a warm (not hot) place where it won't melt or catch fire (such as on top of a TV or Cable Box)
- Still doesn't work? You can pop cell phones in the oven on 125*F with water damage for repair, but pixels go dead and it doesn't always work. I don't know if the Zune's casing can handle this though

My trouble shooting tips *Will* Void your warranty (although it is probably void now). Find out if you can send it in for service or not. If not, you may want to try.

Ps: Please post in the correct section next time

On the outside it was dry, on the inside is was probably wet. If it doesn't work after drying out either it isn't fully dry or you burned out one of the chips with a short or something. If it does get dry and they can't tell it got wet, they might replace it.

i am going to lay it on the tv for the night.....if it still isn't working (which I am pretty sure it will not) then I will call customer service ans see if I can send it for repair or if they can't I will have to open it up and fix it manually, I have a friend who has a Zune also who is very electronic smart (if that makes sense)

Sweet! you are lucky yours worked after drying up. Another member here had his die due to getting wet and it didn't work properly when dry.

He wasn't being a jerk at all.

What i would have done was dry it out then used my extended warenty and got a new one. Cant tell the difference as long as its not visably damaged. Thats why i bought mine from BestBuy. I know how they test things. If it doesnt work you get a new one.
Now you know.

As far as the price... I paid the same amount you did. Plus the case, Plus the warenty plus a crappy pair of headphones which i have since replaced. Total was close to 400$
If you arent willing to take care of your expensive gear then you should not complain if you break it, it breaks but you have no warenty, or you didnt bother taking care of it.
As far as the Zune being "fragile" i think you should check this out:
