Default Does installing Zune 4.0 software secretly install Windows Genuine Advantage?

I am using a copy of TinyXP until Win7 in October, and when I installed the Zune software, it made MS know my copy of Windows wasn't "Genuine" (despite my slipstreaming it from my own LEGAL XP CD)

Was it the Zune software or something else that made this happen?

Probably, considering to use 99% of Microsoft's programs you need to have WGA somewhere on your OS.

If you are waiting for Windows 7, Why didn't you just download the RC?

3 questions about win7:

1: Is there a safe download of it?
2: How long will I be able to use it?
3: Can I install from USB?

1.Yes, MS had a free RC download for a while, now you must torrent.
2. Well, if you're going to torrent, you might as well torrent the actual final version, so forever.
3. No, only from a disc

You can technically install Windows 7 from a USB device. I explained how to do it here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/tut...n-process.html

It's kind of a pain in the ass to do if your borked WinXp install you were trying to replace with windows 7 makes doing anything involving USB formatting/boot stuff a pain in the ass though.

The RTM is the full version of windows 7 that will release in october. Catch is, it uses a pirated key so the key either will not work or might cause WGA issues down the road.

The RC on the other hand is pretty much the same thing as far as I can tell, except it's key will expire between may-june (or march-june) 2009. If you want to upgrade to the retail version in the case of the RC you'll need to make a crack in your system settings (pretty easy it's just changing one number). However being that the RC runs on W7 Ultimate, you can only upgrade to W7 ultimate, which is pretty expensive. Otherwise you'll have to do a full reinstall.
