Wow, time to buy an Ipod. My son has an 80 gig Zune and the display just went black. Everything works fine, just no display. You can tell it is on as there is a slight lightening around the edges, but you can't see anything. Still looks like he just took it out of the box as he takes very good care of it, but broke anyway.
It is my son's, and I work out of town so he has been Zuneless for about a week. So I get home, find out the issue, log into the site and start a service request. The warranty ran out five days ago on September 15th. Several days after the Zune went blank, but five days before I could deal with the issue and try to get service. So now my only option is $159 repair (basically a refurb swap I am sure!). I can go buy one for that.
So I tried to phone service, and after futzing around with the prompts that were leading me nowhere, I said "I want to speak to a person" and believe it or not, it connected me to a service
rep. Of course she was Korean, Tiawanese or something like that and could not speak english very well. She just kept parroting back to me that the warranty was out and I needed to send it in for service.
So, guess I will buy an Ipod. Service has got to at least be more helpful than what I have seen here with my one and only service experience.
Just needed to vent!
