no you mean the 3day or 3 plays hidden count down timer brought us the clock
and i dont have a MAC so i dont care and besides all those Mac users were the ones bashing vista and the original zune...so it quite funny watching them beg...
and what is so special about MAC anyway? except for the music capabilities?
oh well, i guess i'm going to have to use the "make mac software or i'll shoot the puppy" technique.

There is nothing (useful) that Macs can do that PCs can not.

IMO, the biggest advantage Macs have is in regards to their laptops. Almost all Windows laptops come with useless bloatware and monitoring apps added by Dell, HP, Acer, etc. These can cause software conflicts, and often slow the PC down tremendously. Worst of all you can't always uninstall all of it, and not all laptops will accept a clean install of the OS.
Macs ARE competent PCs, but it's definitely the marketing that gets most people. One girl in my operations class actually believed the whole "Windows gets thousands of viruses super easy unless you pay for expensive anti-virus software" thing, and felt pride in her Mac ownership. As for Vista, the initial release wasn't that stable, and MS really messed up with those "Vista-Capable" stickers. Many laptops with the label barely met the OS's minimum requirements, and ran very sloppy.
Also, if MS did enable mac support, chances are the Zune software isn't gonna be as stable as on Windows. I.e. the Mac version of MS Office is lacking compared to the Windows version, and the Windows version of Itunes is relatively wonky.
Microsoft won't waste the money on Mac surpport even if you do this. Most Mac users won't even think about buying a Zune. People have been asking for this ever since Zune came out.

There are not that many laptops that do not allow a clean install of Windows. That does not really give Apple an advantage. How hard is it for someone to ask if they are able to perform a clean install of Windows before buying it?

How many non-tech savvy consumers even know what a clean install is, let alone how to perform one? How many computer employees (think BB and ratshack) would even know if a laptop can accept a clean install and remain fully operational? It's not a big issue for guys like us, we're used to devoting time to get our PCs working the way we want. But the majority of casual consumers, they just want something to work proper out of the box.

^ You have too much faith in consumers. I have college kids in my class who don't even know how to get wi-fi to work, even with detailed instructions. History has shown that most people would rather throw more money at an issue than try and fix it themselves. (Hence, the reason why some are willing to pay Apple tax)

But many of them have to. Computers are pretty much required nowadays to communicate with other people and get information. My college actually requires all students to have a laptop.
If you can't fix the engine and change of the oil of a car yourself, does that mean you shouldn't be allowed to buy one?

Most people can turn on and do basic tasks with computers. They just don't know how to maintain them, fix problems, or have any idea what the specs mean.
