I'm REALLY bummed because some jerk stole my Zune yesterday while I was in Big Lots shopping for 15 minutes. It was a pink 30 G Zune about 3 years old. I wonder how many pink Zunes are actually in Casper, WY. You'd think it could be easy to find since it would be a relatively unique item. Called the cops but I don't have much of a chance to get it back. It was about halfway loaded, with the best songs and pictures and movies. Any suggestions on getting it back? Thanks a bunch, guys. I think I woulda rather had them steal my car than my Zune! ~Jamie

U CAN PASSWORD PROTECT IT?! Awesome!! I need instructions!
And I would suggest using another Zune to scan for it but seeing as how it got stolen at Big Lots that wouldnt really help. That only helps if it got stolen at school

only works in 3.1 firmware update
1 go to settings
2 screen lock
3 enable screen lock
4 enter 4 numbers that you can remember
ps if you forget your p/w you have to reformat the zune
and for a thief to figure that out without google is like me getting my hands on the ZUNE HD (emphasis on the HD) by tomorrow

uhh. guys... i lost my zune last winter and it has been reported stolen to zune customer support; any ideas of how i could get my hands on my beloved shiny black 120? it was nay password protected and was lost on a ski resort (Okemo mtn. in ludlow, VT :p just in case the thief is now a member of ZBoards)
how did it get stolen at a big lots? did you set it down somewhere, was it pickpocketed, or did you forget it and when you went back it wasn't there? You've probably done this but check the lost and found at big lots, then look around the store.
Truthfully though I'm not sure if it works for zunes. Once the ZuneHD comes out and IF it get's popular they probably will start to cover support on the zunes (if they don't already)
Best part about it, is that it's totally free. You just sign up your device, install a program on it, and whenever it get's plugged in the website alerts you of it's rough location and IP address of whoever last plugged it in so you can track stolen/lost electronics. Very handy for USB drives.
if you know the date and time go back to big lots and check if it was caught on camera stores like that have cams all over im surprised it wasn't already suggested
I called the worthless Zune Help line this afternoon to have them flag that my Zune 30 was stolen this morning. I head over to Zune.net and whoever stole my Zune has all ready Synched it to there computer because it has new plays on it, After I had it taken.
I thought that since the Zune was a "special" product (meaning that VERY few people have the devise) it would be likly they would have a brick after the batt. dies.
According to Zune help line they can't do anything more. Like I really expected them to. There has to be a way to locate the IP for the device being plugged into a USB port. Anyone know if thats possible is there a website that works with the zune products in this fashion?
I plan on getting the Zune HD in a few weeks anyways but still, Fraking pisses me off.

Maybe you could ask them if the Product ID is viewable when the device is synced, they could look for the Product ID number from Zune's that have synced in the past couple days (if they have a feature like that) and track its location or the IP address.
You could also check the ID against the users account on Zune, and where the Zune account is based.

Read the thread? I already mentioned a website I use for my flashdrives that basically puts a "tracking bug" on it to track when and where it was plugged in (exact locations are not given due to privacy laws but it gives the IP address, which you can give to authorities).
I did mention though I'm not sure it works with zunes since they only offically support iPods and such, but I wouldn't doubt that it would still work on some level, and if not we can let the guy who owns the website know that it would be really conveint to have this option avalable for ZuneHD users and such.

Did I read the Tread??? Are you serious??? Come on...
I've been reading everything I can about it. Snide comments like that are redundent and stupid. The site you mentioned doesn't work with the Zune. Period.
