Plastic Body - 15$
Hard Drive - at least 50$
start an Ebay account and you can definetly get some money.
Think how many people a day break their LCD or scratch it or just want to change the color of their Zune.
Problem solved!!! That was so much easier than all this technical stuff.
Now, what to buy? I-River? What handles podcasts the best, oh besides this box of parts I'm going to sell, I mean?

It's working now, I just unhooked the battery again cause i'm impatient and plugged it back up and held the back+left+center buttons and it said to connect to my pc so i connected it and it started the process and i'm syncing now

worked for me too, however, the zune hung on part 4 (i believe it was erasing the hdd). a quick disconnect of the battery and its up and running again now.

That's exactly what happened to me, stuck on part 4 and i had to unplug the batter, and mine's working great now too

anyone know where i can get a clear plastic body for my 30g first gen Zune? i dont mean one of those snap on things, im talking about taking apart the Zune and changing my white body to clear.

what is the best way to express my discontent with Zune so that my voice will be heard?
you could contact your local news station about your Zune and see if they will put you in a follow up newscast about Zunes and whether or not they are working. That may be an option.

A podcast is a radio program or tv show or the like that is subscribed to so that it automatically updates. Say you were interested in getting NBC Nightly news. You subscribe in Marketplace and the news is delivered everyday to your zune which you can watch or listen to.
Sorry to be offtopic but I really enjoy the things a Zune can do, not the whole electronic monkeying stuff that I have had to go through for my entire New Year's Day.

No it does appear but i just didnt know what it did. And i also dont know of any other MP3 players that automatically send you your subscription content.
I know ipod's podcast goes to itunes but you have to sync your ipod to get the podcast

Hopefully you haven't lost any money in this ordeal as Microsoft should send out a new one each time. It should be fine with 3.0 just wipe your zune and load up firmware 3.0
Sorry about all the hassle you have gone through.
Not a lot of money lost, just my faith in a product I wanted to love. My first replacement Zune was way out of warranty, so I had to pay $110 for a repair. I sent that one back three times (they promised me a new one the second time but didn't send one; the second time they put it right back in the box and shipped it out - turn around time was a week) before they replaced it with the one that was DOA. I had hopes that three would be
the charm.
I called and told them I wanted the warranty money back. Not the purchase price - that would be ridiculous. Just the blatantly wasted $110. The people I talked to were amazingly sympathetic once I got past Tier One "let me try something while we're on the phone" and on to a supervisor.One CSR said they were escalating my claim to MS after I sent the thing back the third time, and that he'd call me one evening soon. Two days later, he called my husband to say they were sending me a new one. That was around the time
the forums started reporting the restart problems.
I had to load 3.1 - it was the only way the computer would recognize it. Now I am sitting here waiting for what seems to be the inevitable. If/when it happens, I have a feeling they will assume I am doing it.

I can sympathize with you for all the sendbacks because i had to do that with my laptop and when they finally fixed it i demanded they increase my Ram from 1gb to 2gb. lol.
And the thing with the Zunes about the internal clock bug was a programmers error and it shouldnt be microsoft's fault but the buck stops with them and all their inspections so we do blame them. Until the time they release the name of the programmer. HAHA.

Why not just let the battery die. Once you get the ! mark, then plug it in a pc set to the year 2010 to charge. while it charges, open the zune soft to get the date stuff synced. In the end, once charged, try again.
I tried to avoid technical talk with the intentions that it might just help you out.
