Like most folks, I came on here looking for help......my 30GB froze about midnight PST. I love my Zune, just got a 120GB for Christmas but not wanting to open it until this crap gets resolved.
I just got my kids 4GB Zunes....hopefully those aren't affected or I'll never hear the end of it. I don't care for Apple products and told them getting a Zune would be better than an iPod.
As a very angry Zune user, i have typed up a rather large summary of what i think is going on, and i have submitted it to CNN news to see if they'll do a review of it and maybe make this public. if Zune 30 users don't know it yet, they'll be furious when they find out that Zune doesn't intend on replacing our devices. Personally i got over the initial anger, and now i'm trying to find a way to get into my zune and maybe reprogram it...it's just a little computer, how hard can it be? but seriously, it can't just be some crazy kind of coincidence...there's no way that so many people are having this same problem at the same time. it's like some kind of crazy Y2K thing, but a few years late...maybe they had the wrong date for it...oh well. either way, it's a very annoying set back...i lost over 1000 pictures and almost 700 songs, not to mention my 17 videos...yes, i'm a very angry individual right now...stupid vista...stupid zunes...stupid technology that NEVER does what i want it to...GO DIE YOU STUPID MACHINES!!
I'm one of the German Zune owners. Just typing "zune stuck on boot" into google and found this thread as one of the first links. Wow, around the world every 30G-Zune broke. WTF?!?
Implizite it means my own one is also dead
I'm still waiting for the battery to go dry ...
im from belgium
you cant reboot by just running outta batteries
i charged afterwards and it got stuck again
The zune.net fix works. I just tried it, and now my zune works fine, at least for now. I turned it off and on a couple of times, and it still doesn't freeze. It might be something with the time, because when you turn it on, the clock is stuck on the wrong time.

Ludaiggy09--I can't find the zune.net fix. Can you provide the link?
Ok, what ever you do... don't let the Zune software startup when you plug in your Zune! The same thing happens and you have to perform the hard reset. I was able to plug in my Zune to charge it, but cannot sync.
After a hard reset, I did notice my clock was not correct; however, I do not see any way of knowing if it stores the date
You know, it might be the leap year issue. I mean, mine was working up until January 31, 2008 at 10:53 PM. It was working fine before that. Then, I plugged it into my computer to charge and after that it froze. Done, gone.
