I was one of those unfortunate enough to get the bug when the games were added to the zune that caused some songs to go all Alvin & the Chipmunks on you, and stuck the time counter at zero for every song. And now, this kind of **** happens. I think, "Hey, I have quite a few songs and pictures on here, maybe it just froze. I'll let the battery die and try again." I let the battery drain out, and I charge it up, and TA-DA it's in the same ****in' situation as before. I fully appreciate the fact that the team at least is telling us that they're working on this bug, but for ****'s sake this is bull****. Right after I got the new Mudvayne album and The Dark Knight this happens... Gah, maybe for a New Year's Resolution, Microsoft should make a pledge to not ****-up their hardware in 2009. God, I fear for my 360.......
**EDIT**
Wow, sorry. I read the page before this one, wish I did earlier. Like way earlier, before I decided to leave it at my mom's for this weekend.... That's just great. At least I know my battery's already dead so all I have to do is plug it into the computer now, right? I just hope people can understand my anger from this situation.

We told you the problem, its just people didn't bother reading and then just continued to rant. We said it was a coding failure probably to do with the date, just WAIT. It will hopefully reset tomorrow. And what happened? It reset.
that sucked for most people.. hehehe.. i saw it before i left to vegas in the morning but a little too lazy to post it/check zB X.x anyways.. hope it is all fine for people now

Im happy everyone else made it relativly unhurt. I however, am a diffrent story.
My Zune 30 worked perfectly until the night of question. Where it died, I didnt have INternet at this point and was REALLY irritated. then a friend called me and said "Hey.. guess what?" And explained everything to me. Thats fine, Ill wait then! Not a problem, right?
Now that its January, my Zune "works". I say it this way because now everytime I try to Sync it restarts. Now Ive tried doing everything Microsoft says to do, restart, reload, all that fun stuff. Nothing has worked. Im still irritated, slightly angry. Any suggestions?
i read this summwhere let me know if it helps i personaly own the zune 120 so yah "Microsoft has stated that the problem is with the internal clock driver and the way the device handles a leap year; with an intermediate official "fix" to drain the device battery and then recharge after 12 noon GMT"
I did the same thing. Tore the Zune apart and unplugged the bat. It kept freezing, though. I thought it was trashed or the firmware was screwed up. I was running v1 (which I love). So, I upgraded in desparation. Now I can't get back to v1 because aparently the go.microsoft.com website is down. Sucks! I'm so ticked that I can't flag songs or use 5-star ratings I thinking about going to i-pod or 3rd party player. Now my Zune is just a listening device, not a tool to use while away from the computer (rating songs for playlists or flagging songs with errors). M$ sucks!
the zune 30 crashed because f leap yr. sence it was supposed to be jan 1 and it was the 31 it cused it to crash so i lef my off for a while and i tryed it today and it worked.. if yours still dont work what i did was let the battery go dead adn let it charge than while it was chargin i reset it bu pusing the back button and pressing up on the pad and now mine workes
yes, indeed... al the good-ness of my Zune were washed away when it was stuck at the loading screen... my zune resets itself randomly(before the 24 hours needed of standby time), and loads, and i can't get it past this. I eventually had to unscrew it and crack it open, unlug my battery and replug it several times before the Zune would finally get past the loading screen. My theory? it's an HDD issue with the new 3.1 firmware.
until this issue can be resolved, i bought an iPod for 2(yes, 2, two, dos) bucks at a computer recycling place instead of spending the 140 for a new zune 8, and the iPod 20 gig will do what i need it to for music, but i can't wait untill this issue gets resolved. as for the person that said "M$ sucks!", well, i hope you find happiness in your anti-social iPod life. honestly, iDon't care.
**EDIT**
for those who are wondering, or even care, my Zune still doesn't work...

Let the battery die, completely die. When you plug it in and the bar scrolls accross hard reset your zune. This means pressing certain buttons to delete everything off it. To find the buttons you need look in my sig and click the "Key Combos" link. Its a coding error for the leap year act.
my zune 30 didnt get that happen. mine just started to freeze on me every now and then after having it 1 or 2 years when i wanted to play an album. wouldnt reset either until the battery was completely drained and on recharge :/ ive just updated to the 120 now so doesnt matter!
This didn't happen to me, or at least I didn't use my Zune 30 on New Year's day. I used it on January 3-5ish and then today I come home from school and I turn it on and it gets stuck at loading as well. I let the battery die and i plug it in, and it happens again. Anyone else having problems after Jan1?
