Default A bug fix before Microsoft?

Again, I did NOT wipe my Zune's memory and firmware, simply re-installed it while keeping all the songs intact.

I don't know if this will work for anyone else but it's worked for me. Seems like a VERY VERY simple solution to this problem... much simpler than the whole wipe thing obviously. I suggest everyone try it if they're still having these problems.
One of the forumers up in the help boards came up with this solution. If this is case, we may have an early solution to the bugs in 3.0 before MS releases 3.1. And the only way to find out is to try. The good news is, you don't lose anything by doing this, so for those of you who are frustrated by perpetual bugs-poor stkr -you should go for this and see what happens. Make sure to post here to see if it worked.

EDIT: Well, it worked for stkr who probably had the most consistent bugs of anyone. That makes me happy. Now, for those of you who don't know where "Install Games" is, do this:
Connect the Zune
Go to Settings in the software
Click Device
Click Device Update on the left section
Click the Install Games button

They say the whole freezing bug also goes away if you use the default background. So if your Zune crashes when trying to change songs, the idea is to go to the settings > display > and restore the default black background.

Let me know if anyone finds this to be true or if it's a bunch of bull...who knows...I may even feature this on the front page with your input

I dont even notice how my zune freezes but it just does. But it has only frozen about 3 times I think since the update, so its not a big problem for me

Probably shouldn't risk it. I'm just gonna wait for the 3.1 update. You can fix it temporarly with a hard reset (this applies to the superfast music and freezing glitches).

The background thing might help it a little, because computers do load a little bit faster if you have the default backgrounds. But it probably won't fix it completely, might just stop some of the lag.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. This does many of the same things as a hard reset, but carries no risk whatsoever. It doesn't damage anything. Doesn't remove anything. Just adds the default Zune games back in if you've gotten rid of them, and may repair the bugs case by upgrading(though not if their inherent to 3.0, just as a result of not doing a clean install).

This worked for me. I can go back and it won't freeze. At least not 100% of the time. I've only done it five times. That would've been five resets, though .

Good to see that fixed it for ya stkr, seeing as how it was really bothersome before, right? Let's hope this works for more people too.

Sadly this doesn't fix the issue (on my Zune 80GB anyways). Here's the bug that I tested:

1) Play a song, then pause it with less than 10 seconds remaining
2) Scroll to another song off a different album, then press Play
3) Before the song ends, press the Back button once, then select a track

Before I reinstalled the Games, my Zune would lock up immediately after performing step 3. Now, my Zune actually froze up immediately after step 2.

So, has anyone else given this a try? Any luck?

I have done this, and it did work. However, about 2 days after doing this, the problem recurred. I did it again, fixed the problem, about 2 more days, it happened again. I have done this "fix" again yesterday, I believe. I'll update if it happens again.
