I'm looking to buy a hard drive based mp3 player. I have a couple of ipod nanos so obviously I use itunes to manage them. I really want to buy a Zune but I listen to podcasts a lot and really like the ipod functionality where the wheel can quickly fast forward and rewind by spinning your finger around the wheel. Does the Zune 120 have similar feature. Can anyone comment on how they like the Zune regarding listening to podcasts? Also does the Zune software and itunes play nice when they are on the same pc?

Great questions punchback!
Podcasts are excellent on the Zune. With a flick of the thumb left or right on the Zune Pad, you can easily rewind/fast forward through a podcast. You can even tell the Zune Software to monitor your podcasts you've already subscribed to through iTunes and they'll sync up to the Zune just as well. And yes, Zune and iTunes behave themselves. You can try it out free without even having a Zune by simply going and downloading the Zune Software free here ->Zune.net | Download Zune Software

The podcasts play great on pc. The navigation is not as smooth, basically you fforw/rewind by holding right or left. The marketplace has a free podcasts section and it's pretty much as loaded as itunes is. All in all it's pretty good, the navigation could be a little better.
Also on the device you do have the ability to wirelessly send a podcast to another zune from your zune, which is pretty neat.

Sounds like the Zune handles podcast navigation as well or better than the ipod.
I've only been listening to audio only but I guess the Zune can display the video podcasts as well?? Hopefully I'll be taking the dive into the Zune pool soon. |

Zune.net | Zune.net Home download the zune software (you dont need a zune) and check it out compared to itunes. If the software alone does not make you want the device then I don't know what will.

The Zune device can also do some other cool things with podcasts. You can unsubscribe right from the player as well as mark each episode as played or unplayed. And video podcasts look fantastic on the Zune's large screen! If Microsoft adds the ability to download podcasts right to the device I'll be a very happy person.
