Default when will there be cover flow on zune device?

let's face it. the software on the zune device itself seems a little...shall we say....black and white ---old school. and not the good kind- the bland colorless kind. can microsoft incorporate the paneled album arts from the zune pc software onto the device itself? apple's done it (poorly, but they've done it nonetheless) the zune software onthe computer is the best looking music player out there, but why leave the actual device in the 90's? VISUAL UPDATE PLEASE!!!

It is kind of boring, but it's fine for me. The only thing I would like to see is the ability to change the font color on the device.

Personally, I like the way Zune's got it better than Cover Flow, better than paneled anything; it only barely works on the Zune software. I'm fine with it the way it is.

Agreed.
Font size and font

Id also LOVE a horizontal menu. Maybe squares that light up when you go over them.
Kinda like:

But if Microsoft ever does Cover flow...
UGH!
I would kill someone!

I think I might actually slow the device down if your looking through your collection. I would like to see the album view from the software on the Zune. I love looking at album artwork.

This is not an iPod. If you want an iPod feature like coverflow then buy an iPod.

first off, cover flow is copyrighted,
second, if you don't like it, don't use it
third, cover flow is all gui and no ui in my opinion
fourth, bland? you have to mod any iPod(other than touches) to get customizable backgrounds
fifth, you are a cotton headed ninny muggins

Ipods suck, don't you ever refer someone to an Ipod. Especially on a Zune forum.

Actually, a grid of album art like on the software would be really cool so long as the Zune wasn't constantly locking up while loading it all. I'm not sure about an exact replica of coverflow, though.

How about something more along the lines of Windows' Flip 3D like on Vista?

haha, pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I love the Zune interface as is, simple, uncluttered with very little worthless features/extras like cover flow, for example.

Honestly, we should all be thankful that Microsoft saw the wisdom in a simple, 2D interface for the Zune. They focused on features instead of eye candy. Yes, the hardware is fully capable of rendering 3D but, as seen in the iPod much of the time, sophisticated UI elements have a way of hampering the smoothness of operation. Of course, I agree that a sprig of pretty thrown in here and there would be nice but, I think with all of the complaints that MS keeps getting over Vista Aero's greed of system resources, they've somewhat over-relegated the Zune to simplicity. Overall though, I have to say I'm happy with that decision. My Zune has never locked up and lags only once in a blue moon. Operating the device is straight-forward and intuitive. All in all, I'd say Coverflow doesn't make my list in terms of must-haves.

I personally think the CoverFlow on iPods is the most rediculous feature. I've never heard any iPod owner rave about it. It's not useful and can be quite buggy (have you actually ever seen it working on one?). The device struggles to keep the cover art up while 'scrolling' through. It's a gimmacky feature that is useless. Sure it looks pretty and gives something for Steve Jobs to talk about at his Mac conventions, but it's simply not a practical feature.

I'd rather see something better. I don't know what that would be, or really have no concept of it, but there's got to be some way to scroll through your collection in an effective way...

It actually works very well on the new iPod Nanos. I finally got to use one and I was surprised at how quickly everything moved. I still wouldn't use it on an iPod, but I still think that for the Zune, a more visual approach, like a album art grid, would be cool.

Perhaps on a touch device, with a larger screen and finger scrolling and picking, I would actually support this feature. Say, three columns, 4-5 rows on the screen at a time, all next to each other? It might even work on the squircle as well. This is actually growing on me a bit now.

to tell the truth, i kind of prefer the zune as the way it is now, too much eye candy is gonna make the zune looks like an ipod copycat

No it's not . Taking a more visual approach to managing and viewing your collection has nothing to do with Apple. Apple did it with the latest iTunes update, as a matter of fact, creating a grid-like interface resembling the Zune software.

yeah, i didn't really mean "cover flow" as is on the ipod, but at least mixview on the mobile would be pretty cool.

I just wish we could view content on the device just the same as on the computer, that would be golden

If you really want Cover Flow get an iPod, its simple as that. If you don't like the Zune, fine. The whole cool thing is that the Zune is DIFFERENT, why would you want to make it HAVE THE SAME INTERFACE AS THE IPOD?
