We've seen a bug or two here and there which begs the question - Is the firmware from the new Zune 3.0 Update a little... well...buggy? I purpose this post for you, the ZuneBoards member, to report here if you have ever had any problems with the new firmware. Let's keep this constructive and helpful so we can lend help to the Zune Team in fixing what ever's ailing your beloved player.
Be sure to include what type of device you have (Zune 4, 8, 16, 30, 80, or 120) and issues if any. I hear the Flash Zunes are not having as much of an issue as their larger sibblings.
I personally haven't had any problems, but from the initial results of the poll we took, there's a good 50-60% of Zune owners who have reported having that specific bug in one way or another.
I have the reboot while playing issue in my Z80. It only seems to happen though if I press the play button to put the zune to sleep and come back a while later and go to play music. After a song or two it reboots, or if im scrolling around in the menu, it will reboot. to stop it from happening when it comes back up, I have to do the reset button trick. Then when it reboots then it will stay running. This never happened until the 3.0 update! I have reflashed and totaly wiped the zune 3 times to see if that would help.....no go.
This is so funny. I have noticed that since the 3.0 upgrade my Zune 30 freezes up often and was thinking about looking for a post on the topic.
With the previous firmware, my only glitch I found was the wireless sync would freeze up and my player would not recognize the internet connection until I set it up again.
With 3.0 I have found if I'm anticipating the next click while browsing through folders and press the button before the next folder becomes visible the screen will freeze. Sometimes I have to force a reboot.
So, while trying to address what may have been the problem I just went into the games and deleted them all . I then forced a reboot and told the Zune to wipe all the memory so I could start from scratch again and narrow down a possible culprit. After a day of persistent buggy behavior I wiped the drive free of data and firmware and made a fresh start but the bug continues.

Yesterday, I had my Zune 80 connected to my computer while I converted videos. I had paused a song I was listening to and after around 30 minutes I tried to resume the song, but my Zune had frozen up. The battery was completely charged and I didn't have the zune software running. After rebooting everything worked fine.
Not sure if this is a bug or just a one time occurrence.
I own a Z80. After getting my unit at the beginning of the year and cleaning my tags, I've had well over 3000 plays with no freezes. Upon updating to 3.0, I have gotten a few freezes and some songs will not play at all until I re-sync them.
I don't think it's even really a question of if it has one. The question needs to be how long is it going to take Microsoft to fix it. A couple of months, which I'm hoping is not the case, is unacceptable, so hopefully it will be soon.
I have a Z80 and all of my albums that are more than one disc now get mixed together instead of separated ex. it used to be track 1 2 3 4 5 1 2 3 4 5 now its 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5. it is a little annoying. but now i have just gone through my collection and renamed each one disc 1 disc 2 and so on. but it is nice only having one folder for one album instead of two...
just thought id contribute to the collection of bugs...
I have a Zune 80
The only problem I have noticed is.
That the zune freezes up at times when browsing
my songs. The screen flashes on and of one or two times.
i press a botton and it stays of.
After a few seconds it un freezes.
Its not a big problem but it gets annoying when it happens.
The other small bug I have noticed is the
counter wont start sometimes.
It only happens sometimes not all the time.
My 80gb sometimes will freeze, though not too often. It also says that I need to unplug the cable from the Zune when I try to wirelessly sync it even though no cables are connected up to it. And also I have had the problem with the counter not moving. I think that's it.
I've experienced a bug in my Zune. Randomly when I try to listen to a song, it just completely freezes for many hours. The first time this happened I was so freaked out and thought my Zune was going to explode because there was these off and on "sizzling" sounds comming from it and then when it finally works again, it ends up completely out of batter so I have to charge it. This has happened to many times already and I'm sick of it.
I have a zune 120,
which i bought of zune originals.
After the 3.0 update, ive had the playcounter stay at 0:00 for all songs,
reboting fixed it but it happened a while later again so i had to reboot once again.
There is also a bit of lag,
so hopefullly the zune team gets to work on this as soon as they can. I dont have a problem with these problems so far, but im sure itl start bugging me after a while.

I have had that problem too. I edited many of the tags to fix it and changed the settings so Zune doesn't automatically edit the tags anymore. On my computer everything is fine but on my player it's all mixed up again.

Woops, I take that back. I just noticed my music collection is all messed up now too.
I have the same problem as previous posts. I have a zune 30 and sometimes it freezes when I go to play a song. This never happened before I upgraded the firmware, but has happened multiple times after upgrading. I have to wait for the battery to completely run out before I can use the zune. Very Annoying.
