So I was on Google searching for a way to replace a Zune 30 GIG HD with a 120 HD (which I never found so if you know how, link me please). I came across a site which linked to ipodmods.com and had a bunch of Zune parts (which isn't ironic AT ALL </sarcasm>).
Here is the link for the parts: ZUNE 30GB 1ST GENERATION PARTS: RapidRepair This is the clickwheel that they sell (which I plan to put on my original Zune as well): Zune Clickwheel Circuitry: RapidRepair $39.99 The Zune Extended battery (again, my orginal Zune as well): Zune eXtended Life Battery: RapidRepair $19.99 Zune Back Panel: Zune Back Panel: RapidRepair $19.99 I can pick Brown, Black, or White. Might go with a Black back and a White Front. Speaking of the front: Zune Front Panel: RapidRepair $39.99 Without the buttons (for the clickwheel) Zune Screw Pack: Zune Screw Pack: RapidRepair $9.99 Zune ZIF HD Cable: Zune ZIF Hard Drive Cable: RapidRepair $19.99 Zune Dock Port (don't know if I need this): Zune Dock Port (Black): RapidRepair $19.99 Zune Internal Drive Cage: Zune Internal Drive Cage: RapidRepair $4.99 Zune Screen Protector: ThinSkin Screen Protector for Zune: RapidRepair $7.99 Optional but this would be great to have Zune Mainboard: Zune Mainboard: RapidRepair $94.99 Zune 1st Gen LED Screen: Zune 1st Gen LCD Screen: RapidRepair $89.99 So yeah. That's a lot. The total is: $367.89 Plus a Hard Drive, which is over $100 on that site, no matter the size (could get one for half the price though at Fry's or Best Buy). On second thought...maybe I won't build it. What do you guys think? It'd be great if I could get funding but I don't know if anyone would give money to someone who just wants to build a Zune so he can say he built a Zune.

I would just buy it, it takes too much work, plus its more expensive, do you really need 120gb??

Yeah but I want the clickwheel plus the extended battery. Also, it'd be cool to say I built a Zune. I guess.

Or get a Zen Vision W!
ZEN Vision W - The power of ZEN. The style of ZEN. Then just put the drive in there. With building the Zune, you'll need the firmware, and you'll need to actually hope that the Zune software recognizes your built Zune.

I've given thought to the possibility of building my own PMP but, I don't think I would want to try and build a zune. As has been discussed, it's not really cost effective. Of course, if you're really just that hellbent on being able to say that you built yours then, I guess that doesn't really matter. In my opinion though, it would be much cooler to build something completely original. It certainly wouldn't be easy or cheap but, nonetheless fun.

also, just for your info the "Clickwheel" is just the regular zune 30 pad. People that sell ipod parts are just uneducated so they assume thats the term for any mp3 device navigation part.
Thought about this too a while back, but its just not worth it. Also the zune would be recognized fine. It is just a regular zune with parts mixmatched from other zunes. As long as its a real zune mobo it would be fine.
