Hm, can't recommend any specific bands since I don't listen to those...

Try going to Pandora and when you type in a band name, there's also recommendations.

I'm sorry about you liking panic! at the disco, just remember that it's not your fault. :p

No but seriously, metallica is good, iron maiden, the missus likes kessler, I like...well everything, so I'm not really helpful, but the ministry of sound stuff is pretty catchy?

What kind of rock are we talking here? Since I listen to some pretty hard (actually I think they are calling it post hardcore now)stuff like August Burns Red, Norma Jean, The Devil Wears Prada, Mychildren Mybride, As Cities Burn and As I lay Dying it really depends. OH and Cobra Starship is amazing.

I don't like Panic or Coldplay, so I can't suggest much similar to them, but I'd say get familiar with some of the greats, if you aren't already, like Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Nick Drake, Tom Waits, and some more recent artists like Eleni Mandell, Drive-By Truckers, Old 97's, Neko Case, Brandi Carlile, Wilco, Iron & Wine, Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter, El-P, Arcade Fire, Joe Henry
