Hey,
I'm thinking about getting a 30GB Gen-1. The soft-side features I want are ones present in the Gen-2 but since the software is ported to the Gen-1 I think it will be okay for those features also. But I hear the EQ is no longer avalible with this newer software, but then I read for Gen-1 units even after software upgrade the EQ is still on them, can anyone comment on this? Thanks! |

well i still think you should get a 80gb zune mostly.. eq isnt really useful since the sound quality on gen 2/80gb is pretty good already.. and the first gen, 30gb, is hard to find now in stores. Most likely you can find it on ebay though.

Zune 30 is still a fine choice if you don't mind not having some of the fluff of the 80 gig version, and yes, the 30 gig does have EQ even after the firmware update.

Honestly, I don't really think an EQ is necessary. The audio quality of the Zune 80 is great. You may want one if you're an audiophile or something, but, even then, a ridiculously expensive pair of headphones should be enough.

If I purchased a 80GB GEN-2 Zune from someone who received it as a new gift a month earlier and hasn't even used it but also doesn't have the original store receipt, would I be able to make a warranty claim in the future should I need to?

I believe so, but as far as i know, the warranty is active once the buyer brought the zune already. the day of the purchase of the zune is when the warranty starts, so you won't really know how many months/days of warranty a zune has. I would recommend you buying a new one since this week Target has a Zune 80gb for $250 with $30 gift card back to you I believe.
