Default zune touch

Anyone know the release date, or have an educated guess? I am concerned because I just bought a Zune 80 on friday, and my main reason for getting into the zune is for game development. I wanted to start developing for Zune community, but now with this new just 2 days after I spend 280 dollars on the newest Zune, I hear this news. Should I take back my current zune and wait for the new one, or should I just continue with the one I have?

People are guessing completely at the release date of the Zune 3.
Some people say November '08. Others late '09.
Who really knows for sure?

I don't think it will come out for a while. $280 is a RIP-OFF, unless you bought accessories and whatnot.

Oh you know what it was 250, but I bought some crappy 20 dollar screen protectors, sorry.

I think you can expect one november 2008, but theres no gaurentee. Zune 1 came out early november(13th I think) 2006. Zune 2 came out early november(14th I think) 2007, so I'm guessing zune 3 will be november as well. Some have said late 2009, but I simply cannot believe they'd wait that long to release a new generation, being they'd be SO far behind.

$20 screen protectors. Rip-off. Unless you bought at least 10.

I got my screenprotector in a 11x8.5 (lettersized) sheet for $1.5. I can cut out about 12 of them from one sheet.

$20 is definetly a rip off for screenprotector. I'd return it if you haven't opened the packaging. I dont' know if they'll let you return it if you used it. LOL

It is probabley safe to guess that microsoft will not come out with a new zune for
a while!
Even the new zunes arn't even over a year old!
Let them fix up there old software and zunes, before they start something new!
I would keep the zune 80,
i have one myself and it works great!
The only thing i would do though, is buy a plastic case to go over your zune 80
because i recently had a zune 30 and the screen cracked right down the middle!
I hope this helps!

apple comes out with new versions almost every year, so why cant zune?
you have to stay updated with the newest electronics even if the version that is out right now is still working fine. touch is a big step that needs to be taken by zune in order to compete with the ipod because ipod has touch versions.

A new Zune is not coming out anytime soon. November would be really early, since they're putting in more effort into improving the current Zunes.

Zune Touch is a rumor at best

Meh, even if they're putting in a lot of effort to improve the current models, that doesn't mean they aren't putting even more effort into zune 3. November is still 5 months away, they could easily have a model ready by that time. I can't see zune waiting any more than a year to get a new model on the market. They'd just fall too far behind apple.

As much as the new Zune 80 is great, I think Microsoft HAS to release a Zune touch in November or else it will suffer from competitors innovation. Its a shame, cause I love the 2nd gen, but strategically it makes sense to move on.

just a wonder touch is already all high tech (hardwarely) so how much higher can the hardware of ipod go? all they can do is improve the software. so i guess the zune have enough time to catch up. it'd be better if microsoft allow zunes to connect to the internet... if that happens zune's gonna boom.

The thing is that zune 30 ( generation 1) already supports touchscreen hardware. The zune 30 hardware is amazing and is still considered very advanced today. Microsoft dropped the touchscreen because it'll cost too much for the consumers. A touchscreen may add up to $50 more to the price of the device thus making the zune more expensive.
