My computer is just abuot to kick the bucket really, so I'm going to format it very soon. This would mean my music would all disappear from my computer. I've heard stories of music that was on your computer then disappearing from your zune. Is this the case?
When I do format, will I then lose my music from my zune when i go to reconnect it? Or can I get the music back off the zune and onto my computer? I really don't want to have to back up all of my music, it would be oh so much effort. Thanks ![]() |

It's never a good idea to only have important files in one place, so it would be best to pick up an external hard drive and back up your music. With that said, it shouldn't be deleted from the Zune after you format, the new install of the software will pick it up as files loaded by another computer, so it will be protected from deletion during syncing. There's always a possibility of something going wrong though.

Hmmm... well, lets just say I'm not exactly the richest of students :p, so I doubt I could afford a portable hard drive. Would I be able to do the registry trick/hack to make my zune a portable hard drive, and just take the music back off it through windows explorer to make sure?
How reliable is this trick/hack? ![]() |
