I have heard people refer to Zune 4/8 GB as the flash Zune. Why is it called flash Zune, does it mean it can be used as a flash USB drive?

1. It cannot be used as a flash drive without being hacked first
2. It's called a flash Zune because it is a flash-based player. It stores data on a solid-state memory card versus using a traditional harddrive like the Zune 80/30. Flash drives run faster, use less power, and are much much smaller. ![]()

yeah, basically if you took a flash drive and replaced the hard drive in a z80 with it you'd have an oversized z4/8

wait, faster? does that mean if u store too much on a hard drive your zune will slow down? cause sometimes i click on "videos" it takes like 3 seconds to load instead of instant open on my zune 80.

If you wanna be technical, the speed of a harddrive doesn't change depending on content, it just has to load more info at a time because you have more videos so rather than having to look up and load 10 videos, it has to load 100.
But anyways, I think this is solved.
