I'm trying desperately to sell my Zen Vision: M and Zen Stone to get the money for a Zune 80, and I doubt I'll end up selling it before around June, so do you guys think it's a bad idea to buy a Zune 80 that late in the year? Considering the new one should be released in a short time, you think I should wait?

no...in fact, I think the Zune 30, Zune 4/8 and Zune 80 will be getting the same updates as the new one...since by Holiday all Zune should be capable of playing XNA games.
The beta for XNA games start in May.

Well. as some others have said, remember that you WILL receive a firmware update with the 80 gig when the new models come out if you choose to buy it. The only advantage to waiting for another update would be battery life, screen size/resolution, possible touch screen, and memory. If these do not concern you too much, then the zune 80 would be a great choice for now.

I traded out my Zen Vision M and haven't looked back. The 80 is a much nicer MP3 player than the M. The M did have its upside, but I doubt you'd ever regret getting the Zune 80 over the M.

Buy it. Now. You won't be sorry. I've had mine for 2 weeks and I love it.
I have only one warning: If you are like my boys and are not careful with expensive toys...$250 might be a little much to pay for an MP3 player. Zune 80's are not as indestructible as the Zune 4/8. The 80 has a huge screen and moving parts (hard drive). ![]() |
