Default My Zune's Scaring me, help!

I've had my Zune 80 for a month and a half now. It's been perfect, until now. Yesterday, I purchased an "Amplified Speaker System by Kinyo". The speakers were only $5.99 but the sound is amazing for the amount of money I paid. When I plugged my zune in I began playing some music, then walked away for a minute. I went to change the song when my finger shocked the zune pad! My zune instantly turned off. I held down play and it turned back on. Sense that first time I shocked it into turning off I've done it 4 more times It's turned off everytime! Just from a small static shock! Is this damaging my Zune 80? Should I just return the speakers? Has anyone else experienced this? Please help!

ya sometimes that happens to me while im charging it in the wall plug. its a safety thing that the zune turns off, like an emergency exit. try grounding yourself on a piece of metal or the set of speakers first, and try a different outlet

Thats what happens when the Zune gets a shock. Try getting a case to cut down on the static.

touchpads are electro-reactive, picking up on the resistance of our skin, and locating the contact point.. the zune squircle is a form of touchpad, thus it would make sense that a static shock could be initiated on the squircle and trigger an emergency shutdown... that's really awesome though that the zune design teams thought through that in order to protect the hardware from major damage.. MS makes good hardware (and sometimes software), Apple makes good 'art'...

In the Zune 30 (not sure about the 80) there is a metal plate between the outer wall of the case and the harddrive to reduce shock impact from falls.

lol no wonder! i tried to move the song with a eraser at the back of pencil once and nothing moved, now i know why! >.>

EDIT: actually i think you're wrong. it moves by sensing heat... i have a plastic wrap around my zune touch pad and it still works, it dont feel the texture of my hands! and... invisiableSHIELD is put on the pad as well but it still works, i think it's sensing the HEAT in your fingers not texture!

No, the current just passes through the plastic...

You know, that explains why the zune 30 is so intensely resilient, mine has been dropped at over 4 feet altitude at least 3 times, and thrown by me at least once... still works fine.

you could be right, but it would have to be VERY sensitive to heat, and only to "CHANGES" in heat, not just heat itself... after all, if it were just heat, a hot day could make a touchpad or squircle mess up royally... I was pretty sure that it was electro-reactive, I'm sure I read something somewhere about something using electro-reactivity... Guess it wasn't the touch sensing of the zune's squircle. thanks for the clarification, and it does make sense.
