Buy.com selling the sh*t out of the red Zunes

Well look at what we have here… A red Zune 80 that isn’t from Zune Originals. I guess this is good for those people who don’t feel like dropping the extra $15 on a custom Zune (which to be honest is totally worth it). BTW, its already sold out so maybe just order one from Zune Originals.

Zune meet Eee PC

I’ve been looking at these super inexpensive subnotebooks for a few months now and on a whim decided to head down to Best Buy and get an Eee PC loaded with Windows XP. When I got it home I upgraded the ram and slid in a 8gb SD card. Just for fun I decided to load the Zune software up and see how it worked on the under powered machine.

The Eee PC has, just about, the minimum requirements for running the Zune software. The hard drive is only 4gb, of which XP apparently called dibs on. After uninstalling Microsoft Works I had enough room to install the Zune software. I loaded 8gb of my favorite music onto the SD card and I was off.

To me, zune arts has never been something I really paid much attention to. Sure, I watched a few of their video’s and subscribed to the podcast but it never seemed as though zune arts really had much of an affect on people. However, back in November Feed Company made an effort to expose “Masks” and the results are pleasing.

ZuneJourney is the promotional site Zune team launched a couple of weeks before the official release of the 2007 Zune players, Zune 4 & 8 and Zune 80. Its an interactive site with animations guiding the user through the new Zune main features in an interesting way. Webby Awards placed it as a nominee in the Websites category for the award of "Best use of animation or motion graphics". I think you know who to vote by the 1st of May! ...

Zune 80 Makes CNET's Stylish List

I'm one of those people that looks for substance over style. You know, function over form. I will admit that the Zune 80 is one nice piece of hardware, and still marvel at how good it looks. CNET published a list of their "Six Sleek and Stylish MP3 Players," and this is what they said about the Zune:

On the other end, we have what I like to call "industrial chic." The Microsoft Zune, with its solid construction and muted body paint, falls nicely into this camp. A large screen and brushed metal backside add to the appeal, and don't forget the custom etching option. If that doesn't scream style, I don't know what does.

While I don't always agree with CNET, it's hard to argue with a statement like that.

Poll: How many Zuners are we?

Microsoft has been extremely quiet about the number of Zune sold since the inception of the Zune player in November 2006. The only number revealed was 1.2 Million Zunes shipped on June 30th 2007. That means that for the first 7.5 months, Microsoft was shipping around 160 000 Zunes per month.

If we keep this number has the rock bottom monthly unit sold, and sales can’t be much lower that the v1 Zune, this means that by the end of March 2008, we should have had a Zune community of a minimum of 2 640 000 units shipped.

Zune Co-Brands with Latino Sites

The Zune team is getting ready to launch a partnership with MSN Latino and Remezcla.com to be their "exclusive music sponsor" for their respective Web sites. A new co-branded "online platform" will launch April 15.

The focus of this alliance, said the Zune folks, is to "connect Latin artists with music lovers online." This partnership will rebrand the MSN Latino music channel to Zune Musica through 2009. It will include a Zune-branded artist of the month as well as links into the Zune Marketplace for people to buy music.

Need help with Zune Software

I recently formatted and installed a version of Windows XP, made for like, the EEE Pc's or something like that. I can't/Don't want to install updates and SP2, so the Zune v2 software to work, and the first Zune software gets errors during installation. Can anyone help me out?

Hey everyone I have never owned a MP3 player and was looking in to making an investment in one. I currently have 8 gigs of music and plan on expanding as time progresses. My main question is this; an MP3 player that can last a good 3 years going through many rough spills, can the difference of a hard drive player as my much wanted Zune 80 not be the best for me? I really have been hearing from many people the audio experience on the Sony mp3 player line and i'm no hesitant to grab me a Sony 820 16gb considering its a flash mp3. If anyone here thinks that the hard drive 80 gig can run into major problems just recommend me an alternative. Thanks all.

Playlist Tips

Hey all, I've never been a big playlist person but now, i'm wanting to make some playlists for differen things, chill time, getting ready to go out, down time with the mister :-). i find that the playlists functionality is a little goofy though. i know how to make one and sync one and all that. but i'm wondering if you all have any other tips or tricks for me that'll make it that much easier or faster or whatever. Thanks!
