Default Need help with Zune Software

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but here's my story.

I recently formatted and installed a version of Windows XP, made for like, the EEE Pc's or something like that. I can't/Don't want to install updates and SP2, so the Zune v2 software to work, and the first Zune software gets errors during installation. Can anyone help me out?

Sorry you have to have SP2 or else it won't work.

I thought about installing a mod where I can use Windows Media Player, but for some reason It didn't work.

I'll try it again though.

You can use zAlternator, but the Zune software needs to be installed. You could try using SZIP2, I doubt it will work though.

I have upgraded to SP2, and I am able to install WMP 11, and The Zune V1 Software, but that isn't picking up my zune. I think the problum is that the firmware on the zune is to new for the software. I tried updateing the software, but its giving me a error were it says I need to update windows. But It dosn't say what part i have to update, so I don't really know What to update.

TRY INSTALLING THIS WAY:
Remove or disable any adware program like Spybot or Ad-aware.
Disable any Firewall like ZoneAlarm and such. Leave the Windows Firewall on.
Disable any virus protection like Norton or McAffee

Uninstall the zune software from your PC and remove any reference of *Zune* from your registry.
Some registry cleaning tools here: http://zunetips.wordpress.com/2008/0...anup/#more-105
Use Unzoone when necessary.
There is an utility on MS site that can help you in cleaning your computer. Windows Clean.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Update your windows FIRST
Go to www.zune.net/setup and download the full Zune XP package
(if the Zune site doesnt work for you, try this www.microsoft.com link:
http://tinyurl.com/2yn9wa )
Install it.
* if the installation goes wrong, run the big zune-XXX.msi file under the packages folder, extracted into the zunexp folder. use the 32bit version
After the installation finishes, plug your Zune and update it going into Device > Settings > Device Update.

Detailed install using the MSI.
1. Download ZunePackage_2.1.exe (you did already)
2. Extract ZunePackage_2.1.exe
3. Go to x86\packages folder under the new zunexp folder
4. Run dotnetfx.exe
5. Run wmfdist11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe
6. Run windowsxp-kb915865-v11-x86-enu.exe
7. Run zune-x86.msi

Try the detailed MSI install. Later.

Instead of removing the registry entries, you can just run UnZoone. Then you can run windows update, and install with the full package.

Listen to this guy. He is a (Zune Support) god among men. Will the full package work without SP2 though?

I thought so. I was just wondering why Gregory was recommending the full package for installation even though the OP doesn't have SP2. I guess I misread his post.
