Default Howdy, Zune questions

Hi, and thanks for any and all help with my question/s.

I'm getting ready to buy wifey a Zune for wedding anni., so far pretty sure it'll be the 30 gb unit.
It appears to have all the conveniences and space she could ever need for music and video.

I've read that one can share/sync from Zune to Zune and comp. We have a pretty big CD collection, must the file be on the comp, in the CD/DVD player or copied or whatever to WMP and then copy the files to the Zune?

We don't have wifi, the 30gb unit says its wireless sync, can it also cable connect too?

Wifey drags oldest back and forth to Uni a couple 4 times a year, is there a way to connect the Zune to the car speaker system? She has a mobile CD player that has a device that slips into the cars cassette player allowing one to hear through the car speakers.

Again, thanks for any and all help G

Wow Happy Anniversary! I have the 30gb unit and I love it. To get your music on your zune, you have to install the Zune MarketPlace. Then you have to open the software and insert a cd into your cd rom drive. Then Click on Disc at the top and then select rip this will rip all your songs to your computers hard drive. After you have ripped all your cd's you can plug your zune into your computer with the supplied sync cable and it will sync all your ripped music to your zune. To use the wifi sync you have to have a router, its not necessary to use wireless sync(i dont because it takes forever). Yes you can sync with the supplied cable as I mentioned earlier. Yes you can use the same cassette system that you used for your cd player for your zune. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask anymore questions you may have. Happy Zuning!

Thanks for the help AppleHater and JTM.

I have another question, does one need Vista media center to load DVD movie clips to the Zune or can it be done from WMP or some other software? Wifey is a Depp fan and may want to have clips of some fav Depp moments

I may have more questions as I go, I'm trying to figure out all the things we'll need to know to get it up and running as easy as possible once I give it to her.

It's easy. Just put the CD in for the Zune SOFTWARE(not Marketplace :P ) and let it update. It will then update your Zune. Rip your CDs at a slow speed, to make sure that it rips the songs correctly.

Then sync them on. For videos, they must be .WMV files for them to sync. The Zune supports a few others but I forget what they are.

You dont need vista media center, You can get a freeware program that will copy the dvd's and put it onto your zune. The freeware converts are floating around here somwhere.
