how do you not go over 1 !!!!!!!!.................for some time last year i listened to my zune at full blast.........i cant do it anymore though idk why. but i guess thats a valid law suit if youre ears get damaged by the volume switching, man that really sucks =[
1 is sufficient about 98% of my audio. I was thinking that maybe my files were ripped at a higher volume (ripped almost all of my music in iTunes), but even songs that I bought on iTunes are loud enough at 1. In iTunes you have the option to increase and decrease volume level. I tried it at 100% and -100% and it didn't effect the file outside of iTunes so I don't think that's it. I have no idea.
You are a great moderator I see in almost every thread i read and post in that you are on top of things, giving your opinion, warnings, and advice to others! Keep it up CameleonMK!

Wow, I'd like to hear one of those super loud songs.
The iPod can get really loud. I played a song at full volume, with volume adjustment at +100% in iTunes, and it was much much louder than it was originally. The headphones weren't in my ears, though. iTunes gives you quite a few ways to manage volume. There's another option called sound check which should normalize your audio files. I wish the Zune software (does it even have an official name?) did some of these.

man.........on my bus after school i have to go to at least 10 to even hear the songs
Wow, I must be deaf.. I usually have my Zune on around 15.. I only put it lower than that when I'm in bed and the rest of the house is quiet.
Well most people who damage their ears with earphones do it trying to drown out ambient noise. When you're on the bus and it's loud you might naturally turn the volume up until it drowns everyone out. As you damage you ears the volume becomes normal and it doesn't sound loud to you anymore.

Eh, I'm really paranoid. I have to drown out stuff, or my mind turns every little outside noise into someone breaking into the house or some creep following me home or whatever, then I start freaking out. =/

I'm paranoid too. That's why I did a lot of research on damaging my eats before I got my first iPod. I would hate to be deaf.

i know what ur saying........but with me if ilisten to my zune at night while imin bed i have to hear everything so that i know if someone is breaking into my house (which has happened before, 1.5 times) so i usually have the volume at 1 or 2 then.

How does someone halfway break into your house? Just wondering . Sounds scary...
i'm going to appologise beforehand i've been drinking and the rum is gone. my opinion on this is the same as the people throwing the "wii-motes" through the tv. if you are re.tarded enough to blow out your eardrum because your your dumb enough to not realize when your doing something that hurts before it's too late then GOOD for you! i'm glad you are deaf. most likely your mother went to a back alley abortion clinic and the doc missed your skull so thank jesus your still alive. if your dumb enough to A.) make yourself deaf due to your own neglegence with volume control, or B.) throw your wiimote through your giant plasma screen then congratulations you should now realize that you should just quit while you are ahead and i sincerely hope you die. i'm tired of everyone trying to sue people because they want to take the easy route.
Man. I know I have good hearing. I have a 5.1 surround system for my PC, and it's set up as a personalized entertainment center. Took about 30 minutes to get the speaker settings down for the configuration to. But, with the Zune, it starting at say 8 or 9 can be loud, but it's also headphone dependent. I use 3 things all connecting to the headphone jack, The Zune 30 headphones, a set of more advanced headphones, and the FM transmitter from my last MP3 player. Thing is, the Zune headphones are about mid range with the volume. The other headphones are a bit louder, and the FM transmitter is quiet. Here are the average volume settings I use.
Zune headphones – 1-6
Other pare – 5-12
Transmitter – 15
Now, most of the time I use the transmitter. But I never got static/distortion from any of them. If that happens, it's either the jack or the headphones that are defective.
my zune 30 has never reset or blown really loud noises to hurt me. but i gotta admit it must suck to have fluid comin out of you ear and loosing you hearing
