I have mine at 11, but every once in a while, I'll go to turn it up for a quiet song or something. And it'll freeze. Of course, I don't realize this, so I just keep pressing up, and the next thing you know... BAM!!!
lol damn, thats loud....i usually have it to 10-12 when im watching a movie on my zune....when i listen to a live album, i have it to 4 or 5, and when im on the bus, its 6....when its really loud, i have it to 8....but since i got new v1 Zune earphones that Microsoft sent me, i have it to 3...
also, 20?!!! lol that would really damage my hearing!
Wow, I have to put mine on 20 to ear movies, but now Ive got some semi noise canceling headphones and now i watche at like 8-12.
"According to Zune user Joel Geddis, way back in 2006 his first gen player spontaneously reset and blasted an ear-shattering noise through the earbuds, resulting in permanent "fluid leakage from [his] ear canal, impaired hearing, and incessant ringing and discomfort." Sound like the stuff of a lawsuit? That'd be correct. Like many others, Joel is beating the war drum in an attempt to raise some awareness of his pending product liability and personal injury suit against Toshiba (who made the first Zune's hardware) and Microsoft. See, this is why we warn people to put in ear-plugs before putting on their headphones -- otherwise you might damage your hearing." via Engadget
I'd say he were crazy if I hadn't experienced a similar situation when I received my Zune 80. Whenever the device is reset it automatically resets the volume at 8 or 9. That's loud when I consider the fact that I only go over "1" when I'm watching some videos and with some songs that are unusually low. It happened the day after Christmas when the device froze up after shuffling. After a reset I went to shuffle again I thought my head was going to explode. Luckily I was using my previous iPod headphones because the Zune earphones weren't comfortable. I wonder why the default volume is so high with a device that comes with in-ear earphones. Makes no sense to me.
You can get those jolts from other players too.. My in-ear buds for my ipod have shocked me a few times as well..
He's not gonna win, this is just like the case of people suing McDonald for making them fat.

Mine too . I would play my iPod through my stereo and forget. Then I would go to listen with headphones and blow my head off. I'm sure I've killed my share of cilia.
I have noise canceling headphones and mine are usually set at 9-11 and I think I have pretty good hearing...I couldn't imagine blowing out my ears and having leakage! Wow that sucks...

Well.. I usualy get the bolts from static electricity, so a lil differnt
Out of curiosity, if I reset my Zune (which automatically sets the volume at eight), how do I adjust the volume before I start a song and blow my ears out ? I know when you put it to sleep you can just hit back once you power it on and turn the volume, but you can't do that after a reset. How do I turn the volume down before I select a track?

He has decent odds. Alot of the volume is dependent on the headphones. The decision to default it there was probably based off of the default headphones
how do you not go over 1 !!!!!!!!.................for some time last year i listened to my zune at full blast.........i cant do it anymore though idk why. but i guess thats a valid law suit if youre ears get damaged by the volume switching, man that really sucks =[
