they're better than the real zune ads.

There's more focus on the device. And less on someone floating around doing abstract crap.

I think these ads are pretty good ideas...Zune and Microsoft might have something if they allowed some actually users to create commercials.

Those don't center on the devices more than the real ones. Plus these just smell of amateurism. The songs aren't that good and it's hard to understand the lyrics.

I do think with ads more like these they could get more diversity. Usually when you think of the recent iPod ads of a white guy on a white screen listening to REM,

I think the problem is the Zune team is going with a thousand different angles and applying each one differently. The iPod has a unified ad form. The amateur ad that got accepted for them was just another of Apple's ads, pretty unremarkable.

I guess what's good about these is they are unique and that's what Zune is going for. But Zune needs to be a bit more absolute and define what the device is. Apple ads focus on the device. Zune ads are abstract and put the Zune as this abstract floating idea. Even this ad doesn't focus on what the device offers but this abstract "you make it you" thing that doesn't mean anything. I mean, the Zune isn't all that customizable. Welcome to the social at least refered to an element of the device.

they need to actually show the device more than once in the video, but it is a more "person oriented" take on the zune. Zune needs to have their commercials like the pictures they used with the old software, ya know people living normal life and loving their music/zune.

I disagree. I like these two fake ads over the Apple one because it shows the consumer using the device in the urban enviroment and its not solely focused on the device subtracting the human element from using them. The video maybe amateurish but lets keep in mind that it was probably done by amateurs who don't have the money to afford the HD Cameras and since its uses the environment we live in it can't be as pretty as the Apple fake one.

Quite frankly the Apple fake one was quite easy to do since all it involved was a little editing and text flashes with just a plain black backdrop.

Call me human-centric but I believe these commercials should have a human element in them, with people using the device not just showing off the device with some disembodied hand.

Also, I was able to understand most of the lyrics just fine with the key points of the lyrics being "original" and "make it you", which quite frankly is what most the Zune experience is about not about all the pretty things it can do.

Also, can't believe nobody has said this, but the lack of quality is partly due to it being on YouTube. Putting anything on the net, be it music or video, takes away some, if not most, of the quality.

good point... but you have to admit that the quality wasn't that good in the first place.

I wasn't saying that they should put these on tv. But microsoft could run with the idea a little.

The key difference between the new Zune ads and the old Zune ads is that the new ads are way more abstract. The ad I remember most is the one wit MIMS in it singing This Is Why I Rock!

I liked that ad and I liked the fact that it showed the features of the Zune.

I fully agree with this, but it need to be more "Social" (ya know like how they had pictures of people at concerts and other shots like that) I mean the one I remember the most from the old software is the DJ picture and the Dancing one. anyone remember those???
